A couple of weeks back I noticed the top of my new boot was being damaged by the gear lever and realised the rubber had worn through to the metal on the end of the lever.
The local dealer did not have a replacement and I was about to go away for a few days so wound some self amalgamating tape around the end of the lever, hoping that it would not just slide off the end of the lever.
I have just taken the old rubber off an found that not only did the tape amalgamate with itself but permanently bonded with the existing lever rubber. The rubber from the tape was a little soft and was wearing quite fast but stayed in place and was still OK after a 1000 miles so did it's job in protecting my new boots.
