Gear oil warranty

OK.
I've just purchased a R1150Gs from cannons.
I have (sometimes) difficulty in selecting first gear.

Question to the old and bold,

A) should i drain the gear oil that cannons would have put in and replace it with Mobile 1 synth gear oil??

B) Will this make my year warranty void??

To quote the popular saying "they all do that sir".

Quite a few threads on this subject.. this one for example.

For me, I find that applying a little pressure on the gear lever with the clutch fully depressed and then slowly releasing the clutch.. it then slips in OK.

Yes it would, the 75W 90 mobilube, I put it in mine and the gear shift is smooth.

1st gear & cold..

I only have a problem when the bike is cold..
It sometime refuses to go into first or second..

The trick is.. let the clutch out.. roll bike forward about a foot.. and then try again.. usually does it for me. I got that tip off the forums here..

Once the engines been running.. dont have any problems at all..
Just seems to be when i have just got it out of the garage..

Yes that is normal, but Fully synth gear oil is better, the gearbox just won't wear.
