Hi folks.......

just got the bike back from having rear pinion bearing and seal being replaced.....

nowmi noted beforemthe winter rebuild that when selecting first gear the 0 would a peear then once through the gears it was fine...

today which is first run out.... the gear selector window showed 0 when in first.

i then noticed that when in neutral (green light on) the battery light is on solid as well.... even when the engine is on.

thinking something needs a clean but what.... escapes me

any advice would be welcomed

cheers in advance

dusty

By your right knee is a plastic cover underneath which is a multi plug, disconnect and clean both halves with your wife's toothbrush and WD40, reconnect and test ;)

Done that ...no change

it looks like when the side stand is down when in gear thr nuetral light and the battery light are very dim..... as soon as you knock it into neutral the light go out.... bizarre

Has the gear selecter switch on rear of gearbox (the round one through that access hole) viewed from rear or from beneath the bike been dislodged/ disconnected recently, or some muck in the wiring there. I can't think of anything else atm.

Hi flatdog i dont believe ive nunged it bu is just had the bevel bearing done yesterday so im going to have a look now.... the side stand gubbings are minging so i think that will need a good clean...... i hope i can sort this off to northwest 200 in a week or so...

Well took it apart today.... it was clean inside..... but fairly worn..... i have refitted it all,and now there is no gear selecti8n visible in the window... the nuetral light and battery light have gone.

ive order another from motorworks to replace it directly see if it cures it...after that im lost....

Quick update on this...

have replaced the gear selector switch....amd have now all my gears 1-e as they should be but no neutral light (with side stand up)

With side stand down and in 0 there is no neutral light. If i put it in gear with side stand down i get the same very dim neutral light and batt light on together.

i've checked and cleaned the side stand and connectors but no joy . Side stand is working as normal..i.e wont let the bike start when in gear etc.....

just cant get the neutral light to come on.....

i understand that the neutral light is fed from the gear selector switch....

ive checked the cabling as much as imcan without ripping it all out but cant see no damage...

not sure what to do..

do i buy another side stand switch tomrule out a fault there

could it be the battery with a crap charge(looking tomreplace it soon...

Would be grateful for any thoughts guys struggling a bit here.....

best

Dusty

May Not Be, "but" Aidan and I had an issue with his bike it would start and run but cut out very quickly once a gear was selected Sidestand up of down

Check the cable between the Headstock and the clocks there are multiple communal earths up at that area and they get very corroded and the wee electrical jobbies ALWAYS take the easiest path to earth which may be through an adjacent circuit

Cheers Doc

I'm coming over for the north west next week so it's all hands to the pump to get it sorted. It rides fine just no neutral light:mad:

Just putting it back to gether after a belt change so will have a good scoot through those areas you mentioned.

thanks again
