Hi,

I've just recently got a new GSA and so far, I've only one minor niggle - the position of the gear selector lever - I just can't seem to get it right.

On my bike the lever is adjustable to an extent as the foot-peg part of the lever is on a concentric peg which can be adjusted up or down.

I've adjusted it down as far as possible, but I still need to lift my foot totally off the foot-peg in order to change gear. My boots are size 45 - 10.5-11 and I've never had this problem with any of my previous bikes. I could take the lever of its spline and move it down a little, but it looks like it might foul on the side stand if I do that.

I've searched the forum and noticed that replacement pegs are available from Pivot Pegz and Fastways, but its seems odd that I would have to do this.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Thanks and regards,
Phil.

If the 2010 is the same as my 2009, then just undo the bolt at the end of the gear lever (the one on the shaft) and withdraw it completely. Pull lever off and rotate 1 spline, then refit. No fouling at all

It'll take about 3 minutes. I did the same to mine, and it is MUCH more comfortable for me down lower.

Also, as an afterthought, I worked out how to rotate the brake lever down in a similar fashion, even though there is no real adjustability in the design.

If you take off the black cover at the top of the brake lever, you can see a shaft which acts as a "stop" against the frame. Back off the brake adjuster, so the lever moves further before the brakes are applied. Then, slip a 20mm length of fuel-line over the "stop" shaft.

This makes the shaft about 3mm thicker, and hence the brake foot-pad sits about 10 or 15mm lower.

Hope that is of some use.
Cheers
David

Alan/David,

Many thanks for your replies - I think I'll try moving the lever down one spine as my main problem is having to lift my foot entirely off the peg to change down.

The Nippy Normans adapter looks interesting, I'll check it out.

Thanks and regards,
Phil.
