I would start by closely inspecting the electrical contacts on any connectors you can find if you trace the wiring from the position sensor end right back to its source (disconnect the battery first before you go pulling the bike apart).

I have just lost the neutral indication, but the gear position indication is fine. When in neutral, no green N indication or N at the gear position indicator. Also engine cuts out when side stand down.
Any ideas???

If its only the N position it sounds like the position indicator is faulty.

So I spent the money and bought a switch (had gone up to $280 now, btw), plugged it in and, of course, it made absolutely no difference.
So where do I go now? How do I track it upstream?
same as mine after new one fitted, get the dealer to check with their box of tricks, when mine was calibrated (as itemised on the invoice with its own job number and as seen by me) it all sprung to life, I dont know why but thats what happened, i have no reason to doubt my dealer and they also did an ECU update FOC too
