Has anyone fitted GSAP to an LC bike that didn't come with it?

Mine is the 2014 model.

I take it I just need the module itself, then a trip to the dealer to activate?

Cheers.

Indeed, expect to pay about £250 to have it coded ,
and don't forget to inform your insurance co, because its classed as a mod

Seems a lot just to plug it in and tick a menu box.

I'm told that it actually involves a "software load" as the actual code that's needed to run it, is not normally present. That can take a few hours, apparently.

Well fitted the unit myself.

And it's booked in tomorrow for programming.

If it all goes to plan (and the dealer is as good as their word on the labour cost) the whole thing should have cost about £200 in total.

Just about to do the same on my 1250 so interested to hear the BMW dealer coding cost when it’s done. I just bought a used unit on ebay, was it easy to fit ?

Pretty easy yes.

You need the bolt and washer, and the funny shaped washer behind.

They didn't come with my used unit, so bought them from the dealer. Part number 23418556234 is the three parts in a fitting kit. Only a tenner.

The fitting is straightforward. By far the hardest part is cutting the cable tie holding the wiring plug to the back of the gearbox. I ended up using a sharp knife, and carefully cut it from the N/S.

I'll update tomorrow if I've done anything wrong!

Great thanks, funny you said that, I was just in the garage earlier having a look for the wiring plug and said to myself shit that cable tie looks tight to get in there and snip of the plug 🤣

There's two to cut. The lower is easy enough. The top one is the more awkward.

Well the ships not in yet.

Waited 2 hours at the dealer. But the mothership not talking to the bike nicely yet.

Gave me a 310 to go home on. Chuckable but numb.

To be continued. . . .

Success.

The lovely Suzy from the dealer rang and said she finds me irresistible and wants me more than anything that the computer has made friends with the GS and the shift assist is now good to go.

They did a safety walk round video of the 100,000 mile bike and were mightily impressed with the condition. Sighting a slightly spongy rear brake as the only point of note. I was so impressed I agreed to let them change / bleed the fluid in it for me.

I can't get tomorrow, so will be Friday or more likely Saturday for pickup.

I swear this is what is keeping BMW dealers in business

EVERYONE has a spongy rear brake on these bikes that needs bleeding

So you got a quickshifter, and Suzy to drain your fluid.

Result all round.

I’d pay a little extra for that fluid.

All is well.

Lovely smooth upshift as long as under power. Nice little pop sometimes on downshift.

Impressed, and happy with the dealer service. Slightly more expensive than originally quoted, but not enough to cause a fuss over.

£140 inc rear brake fluid change / bleed.

I try and stay away from dealers where possible. This stems from a dealer scratching the anodised Goodridge breather on my 1200 bandit in 1998. After that I swore never again. But everyone at Vertu has been very nice.

Largest BMW bike dealer in Europe they say?
