The bloke who fitted it can't be too far from you. He knew his stuff and would be a good contact for you in Essex for general bike repair stuff ... :thumb2

I did everything through him. So he ordered the parts, they were delivered to him and I rolled up and he fitted them. I would very happily use him again, because he's what I would call a proper mechanic and not just a fitter. (Just don't expect a posh waiting room / show room / coffee machine ...) :D

Gear shift assist ordered, fitting at the end of the month. The hardware is in stock, it is the codes that are taking the time apparently.

No brandy and cigars included in the price though :nenau :D

The other way round here, software codes in but waiting for hardware for 3 weeks now.

Where are you getting yours fitted?

My pleasure. I got the impression that they had 'a few' in stock but none with codes

expanding on the bmw QS compatibility with your bike , apart from that blanked plug on the wiring loom (pic posted earlier) , the shift shaft needs to be threaded to accept a small bolt which attaches the QS unit.

the BMW QS unit is different in that it bolts to the shift shaft and is not simply a shift rod.

I'll 2nd that. Paul is a lovely bloke who knows his stuff; I also got coffee & a cigar (well, a Marly which I took myself :green gri)

Got my Gear Shift Assist fitted today at Southport, took an hour and £400. I've already done 2700 miles on my month old GSA and loved every mile so far, but this gizmo is insane fun. I've got the Akra slip-on and the sound of the changes up are great but even better going down.
Use the clutch around town and the QS for everything else, you don't have to tank it for it to work, but it gets smoother the more you push on. Only change high up in the revs and large numbers appear very quickly on the speedo!
It was easier than I thought to get used to flipping between using/not using the clutch. Just had to remember to pull the clutch in at a junction!
Definitely grin inducing.Beg, steal or borrow a go on a bike with one, odds are you'll be spending more money:D
