Just had gear assist retro fitted to my GSA, what a great bit of kit (cheers James Sherlock for the unit & Bahnstormer Maidenhead for the fitting and coding)..

Bit snatchy from 1st to 2nd but other than that spot on, sounds nice too which is a bonus..:clap:clap

Great to hear as I've ordered it as an extra on the GSA TB, when it finally gets here......

Saw one leaving the show room this morning, looked nice especially the rocker covers... Had a black akra which look perfect.

I'm thinking about adding one too, how much was it all in?

Iirc it was about £480/£500 from Bahnstormer of which £90 was fitting and ecu code and the rest the module, I hunted around for a while and found a 2nd hand unit at James sherlocks for £250 which eased the paid a tad.

Which ever way it's worth it imo...

Cheers. That's an expensive mod... think I'll look for s used part. There was one on eBay a few weeks ago but you never know if it's from a stolen bike! I'll keep my eye on motor works and sherlocks.

I was toying with having SAP fitted to my bike a few months ago.

After testing a 6th bike (that's how long it took BMW to find one that actually had SAP and was working) I came to the conclusion that it's just a gimmick.

Nice for changing down the gearbox but I could change up smoother using the clutch or changing clutchless on my non-SAP bike.

It's the gimmick I wouldn't be without having used it on both GSA's and miss it on the K16 I am using.

On the 2017 model bike is an impressive kit, it works even at low speeds, personally I will not pay the extra thou:thumb2

I test road one when I bought mine with shift assist and didn't really use it hence the not bothering, since having it fitted thoughI find it very smooth on the up shift as Long as you have positive throttle and the same on the down as long as closed throttle. I use the clutch 1st to 2nd as it can be snatchy but other than that Bobs yours dads brother...

Well chuffed.

You don't need it. Most bikes will change up or down without the clutch anyway. I remember the day when riders could change gear thisens. :rob

Like most folks I've always done clutchless upshifts on all my bikes but not down shifts

The shift assist is excellent once you've sussed how it works, mine goes up and down perfectly including 1st to 2nd and back

You just need to have the throttle open or closed, no constant throttle and don't blip and bobs your uncle

Just got back from a long trip and found the gear shift awesome, hadn't used it much before I went but on ambitious overtakes it was perfect, just helped to keep the power on when that car or truck is closing in on you quicker than you had anticipated
