GEARBOX/CLUTCH PROBLEMS ON 2014 MODELS

Had a loan bike from the dealers whilst mine was being serviced yesterday - it was 2014 GS with just 1200 miles on the clock, the gear box was pretty good, clonk into 1st but all the other changes up and down we're very good, neutral dead easy to find, in fact no huge difference between it and my 17000 mile March 2013 bike - so I can't believe there is any significant difference in the design of the two bikes??????.

Apparently you should genuflect each time you get on your bike, having been gifted with a decent gearbox. My May 2013 bike with 13k miles is the same way, and I thank the almighty FSM each time I ride it. :bow

Seems like we please the FSM and his noodly appendages reach down and guide us righteous ones.

Im getting the dealer to lower the rpm on mine down to 1100 rpm from about 1300, i think that will help. mines a 2015 model though.

The oil level in the photograph is from a bike from new ( 2 miles )' filled by the factory . Or maybe BM is saving a massive amount of cash by not adding 300 ml of oil.

Coming in late here but based on the photo, my engine would be over filled with adding 100ml of oil.
The top of the circle is the max level, with the oil at operating temp some minutes after stopping to allow all the oil to flow down into the sump.
Bike level (being level) is critical. Slightly off level has a marked effect on visual oil level.
Go the middle of the circle and you have some leeway.
Slightly less oil in engine but change earlier than BMW spec (which is a good thing to do anyway).
