The first oil change on the FD stinks because of the moly sulphate assembly lubricant. I have considered adding the Molyslip gearbox additive to mine at the next change. I do mine every other oil change. They always come out clean. I use the fully synthetic 75w140.
Mikey says using molyslip additive is fine BUT when a gearbox bearing seal fails, its grease will discolour the oil. With moly in the oil you would not know theres a major failure on it's way.
The clutch slave cylinder IS the release bearing. If you like to hold the clutch lever in at junctions, you may need to change the oil more often. Citroen LHM oil is the same stuff and far more reasonably priced than BMWs fiddly little bottle. I have no idea why BMW did not use the tried and tested toroidal clutch release bearings as have existed on cars for ages. The cost of developing their unreliable reversed clutch must have been horrendous.
Cars have iron brake callipers. Bikes have alloy callipers. Any moisture in the fluid will accelerate corrosion under the seals so this will be why they spec annual fluid changes for the bike. It's a quick enough job TBH.
