Does anyone know if you can fit an input shaft from a 2004 1200GS into a 2009 1200GS gear box?

the early ones where faulty - and the 2009 is a different gearbox anyway - so two good reasons its not a good idea

I thought it was the later post 2008 in-put shaft dampers that were faulty. I know that the gear ratios were different, but can a 2004 complete box be fitted to a 2009 engine? I've looked at RealOEM and the part numbers of the housing are different. That could be the internal casting to take the different internal components. I'm wondering if the mating between the front of the gear box and the rear of the clutch housing are the same.

IF you have the Frame numbers of the bikes involved in the changeover ??

Then you can check via REALOEM as Santa said above

That's my own frame number and clicking on the 23 Manual Transmission the 21 21 Transmission shafts and finally Drive shaft

He failed my bollox!, test years years ago, i have him on perma ignore, 😁

My input shaft torsional damper was split 80% around its casing circumference on my 2008 GSA. I stripped the box due to noise, it sounded like excess gear endfloat.

The replacement input shaft cost me £500 and I rebuilt the gearbox. In hindsight a decent used gearbox from Motorworks would have been easier and cheaper.
