Good afternoon. My 1150GSA gearbox is leaking oil from somewhere, and it's getting worse. I've got all the back end off as I thought it was the gearbox rear seal but that looks fine and the gaiter doesn't show any signs of oil internally. The back plate of the box is covered in oil as is the swingarm etc. I must point out that this has been going on a while..... I changed the gearbox about 25k ago (now at 60k) and I'm not entirely sure of the replacement boxes provenance.... but there can only be a few other places it could be leaking. I'm assuming that the front seal is OK as the clutch isn't slipping but I guess it could be still dripping down and out. The movement of the air in that region obviously spreads the oil far and wide so it makes it difficult to identify the exact cause.
One thing however - does the neutral switch have a seal? The switch has a raised plastic section that looks like it should mate with the gearbox surface but I'm not sure if it could be leaking from there?
I'm going to get my old gearbox overhauled soon and replace this one (which has problems staying in top) so I might just put the whole lot back together and forget about it but I'd like to fix this leak if I could now I've got it disassembled.
Any other ideas would be welcome!
