I have recently used the Clymer book of words to check gear box oil level (pg 59)...........in which it states placing bike on sidestand and fill oil to edge of cap hole. 600ml of hypoid later job done.
One week later outside sainsbury's,' shit where is that oil dripping from', after hunting round I discover it's from a pressure/breather valve on top of the gearbox casing.
I rang SPC (very nice and helpful) and they confirmed that there is probably too much oil, and that the centre stand should be used when checking.
Doh!!!, undid the bolt whilst on the centre stand and approx 600ml of oil came pissing out. Oh well a partial oil change it is then!
Morale of story -- CHECK GB OIL WHEN ON CENTRE STAND.
Now everything stinks of Hypoid oil, anyone know a good way to clean it off the patio?
