Hi All,
My 2003 1150 ADV is difficult to put into first gear when cold, especially when putting into gear from start up. Has anybody come across this problem
or is it a gearbox out job ? The bike has only done 15,000 miles and the gearbox was changed under warranty at 8,000 for stainning on the paintwork ?
Cheers Kevin :nenau

Check yer gearchange linkage isn`t full of shite or seized.
Take it off, clean it and lube it ( then refit it of course).

Difficult with engine running or not...or at all times ??

What`s it like with the other gears ?

Hi,
It is only when trying to put into first gear after starting the bike, I have to roll the bike forward and put into gear. Sometimes it doesn't want to go in and I have to take off in second gear. The odd time it is difficult to get into first at traffic lights (worst when cold). All other changes are ok. I will have a good look at the linkage and give it a clean and lube.

They can be a bitch to get into 1st from cold, but try keeping the gear pedal loaded (pressed down) as you release the clutch.Should drop into gear more easily.

Hi Guys,
Had a good look at the linkage and it is like new ? I have adjusted and will see how I get on with that. I will try the loaded lever method to see if that works. My 1100 GS was no problem, but I suppose every bike is different..
Many Thanks Kevin :thumb2
