Gearbox rough at low RPM? anyone had a box go bang?

But is it a knock every so often.. or like mine 4 or 5 times a second until you change something?

I did read the damper bit last night.. and that might help the issue on 2017 on bikes.. but just curious if others feel it?

It’s a sporadic knock not regular at all. I always associated it with bumps which is why I thought it was the centre stand knocking.

yes.. thats like my 3rd then.. but 5th has this small tapping feel

Moving the analysis outside the gearbox, I guess it could be a stiff shaft UJ dropping off centre. Maybe water ingress or lack of lube from the factory.

But only in 5th?.. i'm tending to go more the other way.. input side of gearbox maybe.. even clutch?... that said, its only a very light tap so maybe one of those things that goes away?
Shaft is fine. It was off January time this year for a full inspection, paint and lubrication ...

Mine has never got any worse or better and it’s always been there. I had the clutch apart to fit the updated push rod and nothing was loose or worn etc. I’ve also had the shaft out or greasing.

Yes, one of those issues where you pull it in bits and can't find a thing. So the clutch bearing was nice, no play etc.. as I'm sure went through your mind.. a bouncing clutch could give you a knock..

At the time the bike only had 9k miles so I wasn’t expecting any wear but I saw or felt no play and nothing abnormal. As it happened the bike had the updated pushrod already so it was a complete waste of time ( bmw vin numbers for the non updated bikes is wrong)

yes.. I've done it before.. pulled engines or boxes in bits and not found a thing wrong.. best see if it develops first.. as said above, for some obscure reason, change the tyres and it may go away??.. :)
