Any advice or words of wisdom on this would be appreciated.

The gear change through all gears seems to be much clunkier than it used to

Should I be worried

Is it just my imagination ?

Mine got like that last year in austria. Got worse and worse as I was heading home.
Took it to the dealers upon return.
Universal joint on the shaft drive had just about eaten itself.
Replaced under extended warranty, bikes 8 years old now.
It was proper fooked.
Lovely and smooth again after.

first check your gear lever shaft where it goes through the frame, gets partially seized very easily.remove it and lube the ball joints on the linkage as well

Mine wasn't releasing properly. I changed the slave cylinder but I think stripping & cleaning the master cylinder and refilling fluid was all it needed.
But check the shaft if it separates the swing arm also gets lunched.

Hard to tell from your description You mean the engaging bit when you select gear or when you let the clutch lever out ??

If its when you let your clutch engage theres 2 things

Easiest and first Check the Driveshaft It may be lash being taken up due to wear in a UJ

Cure replace UJ or shaft

2ndly and a bollicks to do on these things Clutch wearing on input shaft splines I had one many many moons ago that ate the clutch centre splines and caused wear on the input shaft and it needed replaced too

Catching it on early could save you a load of hassle

Not saying it is but just to give you a look at what happened to his LINKY

Ok A little more info
It seems clunky as gears are selected as opposed to clutch release etc

bike is 2012 year and done 15K

Rough n ready diagnosis -

Backlash in the drivetrain would suggest driveshaft. Rattle from clutch in neutral but no significant backlash suggests clutch
