Gel cleaner

Has anyone used gel cleaners like SDOC 100 or Procycle stuff? Procycle is half the price of the SDOC 100 and has similar claims.....

SDOC 100 Gel Cleaner

I have used the gel cleaner for about a year and it works very well. Sure, it is expensive but it does the job. I have noticeably less corrosion than similarly aged bikes i see in dealers. i also used FS365 from Scottoiler after ride.

I also used SDoc100 cleaner and found it to be excellent but pricey.

I now use Hein Gerickes own label gel bike cleaner which works just as well as SDoc IMHO but is quite a lot cheaper.

I suspect its made in the same factory.

Would you say thet the Hein Gericke gel is "equally" as good as or "nearly" as good as SDoc.

I just looked at the prices and HG gel is £20.00 / 5 litres as opposed to SDoc which is £14.99 / litre basically 75% cheaper.

If its 50% as good then its still 25% cheaper!!

Ah.... but if you have to use twice as much you'll only be saving 12.5% but if you have to go over it a 3rd time to get it really clean you could end up making a loss .... actually I don't know what I'm talking about - my bike is lucky if it gets a hosing down twice a year

Yes, I would say the Hein Gericke stuff seems as good at cleaning my bike as SDoc100 is.

Spray on, leave for 5 mins, agitate with a loo brush (from poundland), wait another 5 mins, rinse off.

I can't vouch for the protective properties however, but I have also used FS365 and ACF50 so my bike is (almost) corrosion free after 5 years anyway.

It's gotta be better than washing up liquid which is a) crap and b) contains salt.

I assume you guys are talking about real dirt on a real GS, not the commuting crap i'll be getting on mine? I think Auto Glym car shampoo and a bit of elbow grease will sufice for my type of dirt?

If you go to motohaus.com they sell the SDOC 100 Gel Cleaner in both 5ltr and 25ltr.

And it works out cheaper to get the 5ltr than the 1ltr bottles..

The real dirt from GSing is the easy bit its mostly mud after all. That commuting dirt can be worse, an ingrained mixture of tar, dirt, diesel exhaust fumes, grease and grime, brake dust etc. Gimme mud any day.

I went out on a limb at the weekend and got 5l of Halfords own brand car wash. It needed thinning a bit to get it to spray out of a B+Q sprayer, but once I got the consistancy right(about 60% goo and 40% water) it's just as good as anything else I've tried. And it's £7 for 5l, as opposed to £7 for 1l.

They also sell the Sdoc liquid which is cheaper but works as well for a general cleaner, but marginally worse to get stubborn grease etc off.

I use the liquid normally and the gel every now and then.
