And what about the paint that has peeled off the painted bracket then Howard?

And perhaps you'd like to look at the alloy on this photo? :)

The alloy looks like the footrest hanger. The unpainted bit I don't know. Nothing like that on my bike.

Looks like you should have spent some money on Scottoiler FS365 instead of all your cameras. Maybe you can't afford basic bike care products after paying for your BMWs!

Thanks for the piccies. That's just how mine looked. I think the machined area that my dealer was talking about is under that nice sponge. Bad design? I think so.

This just confirms that BMW build quality remains terrible.

My 02 1150 looks like a piece of crap ... front yoke, fork legs look 20 years old.

These are only cosmetic problems mind, the bike is superb. But I'd hoped they would sort this out on the 1200, especially at nearly £10k a pop.

My next bike will probably be a mint condition 1100, those things are properly put together, ie if some thought and effort has gone into the build.

Etc. etc.etc..........................

Like a tennis match this. I think we can all agree!? That ALL bikes corrode and need to be better finished.

Its a factory fitted pannier bracket Howard.

So if the finish on the Triumphs is as good as you say it is, why the need for Scottoiler FS365? As for agreeing on all bikes corroding, you would no doubt insist that Triumphs are not so prone to it as BMW's, so the tennis match goes on. New balls please!! :)

Panniers made by Givi, supplied to Triumph with the fittings. But, agreed, not good.

Better to be safe than sorry. Do you wax your car Bob?

I'm not going to bother reading the whole of this thread, but I must ask, Howard, if you are so displeased with the performance of your BMW in reliability and build quality stakes, why do you still own it. I see from your public profile that you own an 02 1150. You'd get a decnt amount for such a bike, given beemers hold their value so well (despite their shoddy build... ). Sell the Beemer. It'll go to someone who is chuffed to own one: everyone's happy.... Then you can go a buy a Tiger or 3 with the proceeds and you'll never look back. It seems to me that you enjoy disliking it...:nenau

Car gets waxed, bike is also treated to corrosion inhibitors. Still wasn't good enough. But as the warranty guys at Triumph said, if I had followed their instructions in the handbook, all would have been well

Warthog, Howard sold his old airhead ages ago and now has a Triumph. He's a very lucky man as he has the only one in the world that was built to a much higher than their usual standard :D

Seems this is telling us what we already know.

BMWs are overpriced quaity goods. Triumphs are overpriced hunks of shite.
