Getting a hankering....

I'd love one, and people keep parking them in front of me and telling me how good they are, but I just don't trust myself on one:(

Out of all the bikes I looked at in a dealership last time Rosie and I stopped at one, that was the only one I really fancied as well.

Most bikes feel like ikkle toys to me, but I just sort of felt 'right' on this one......Until Rosie smacked me round the back of the head and said she would never do 'that thing' to me again if I even thought about wanting one :blast

Couldn't afford one, but yes, I'd have one for sure.:thumb2

Bryn......make sure you test ride one......It's a BIG bike and you're...er....compact ;)

Thing is..... Having done most of my 'work' riding and training on an FJR1300 over the past 4 years.... I've come to the conclusion that the FJR is a cracking bike, and I'll probably never ride another bike better than one....

But the FJR still seems to command a premium, despite the fact the last update was 2007.

Looking on bike trader I can get a GTR1400 on an '09 plate for the same money as an FJR on an '07 plate... and essentially will be getting a much more modern bit of kit... and the word on the forums is that they're bullet proof:thumb

The 1400GTR was a serious consideration when i was looking to buy a few months back .... The engine on the machine is nothing short of awesome, its bullet proof ... the power just keeps coming in waves .... three figure cruising speeds are very easy ...
The standard screen is useless, even on the top setting i felt like i was being kicked in the head when on motorways (i'm 6ft tall)... A slight concern was when i had found a 09plate with under 1k on the clock ... the dealer when pricing up said "you'll definitely need the extended warranty" but wouldn't expand any further on that ...

In the end i went for a 10 plate GSA 30yr because it looks the part, great fun to ride ... and if i bought the GTR i recon in a few months i'd be saying why didn't i get the GSA .. ...

I've met a few that just 'had to have one' and loved it for a short while, then got frustrated with them and sold on with low miles and huge loss.

Seems they're fun, fast and in the end - impractical.

not that I'd know from 1st hand experience, so YMMV :nenau

Good Luck

Got to wait until spring anyway..... the idea is for me not to be the one making a huge loss ;)

I can see your line of thinking :)

I quite fancy the idea of doing a euro trip on something that's not GS shaped for a change....

K1300S-amazing bike.

Wish I could have kept mine !!!!!!

Still keep looking at the GTR :blast Having done at least 5 euro tours on GS's I really fancy doing a trip on a GT type bike .....

At the moment its down to the GTR 1400 or FJR 1300 . I know the FJR is reliable, but it doesn't seem so cutting edge as the Kawasaki

Iv owned both an FJR and i bought a new GTR1400 in 09,with out doubt the 1400 is a missile, super quick although a little slow to throw in but it is a sport tourer after all,the Tetra shaft is amazing though and really you wouldnt know you were'nt riding a chain driven bike.I didnt keep it long although thats not a surprise for me lol,but what was a major niggle for me was the suspension,it was way to taught and no amount of playing could get it right, swmbo hated the rear pillion the bike would hop over every imperfection in the road, now it was stock rubber but the cornering speeds were good, pegs down on roandabouts etc,but if you hit bumps mid corner she was out of the seat and i was hanging on for grim death. The keypas system is a bit of a gimmick and is not a true keyless system more a pita if you ask me,but the bike is cool looking and well built, quite comfy and defo more sport than tour in the riding department. But defo feels more modern than the FJR and looks way way better imho......
