getting a round the world bike ready

12,000 on a set of T66's !!!! do you know how the twist grip works?:D  I've just binned the set that came with my adv
after 4500 miles of skittishness ( good word that !) the tourances that I've replaced them with are superb:D :D

Thanks for the photographs Steptoe. Food for thought. Whose idea was the head cutting? Who done it?

Surely that arrangement doesn't save much, and isn't as 'strong' as a one piece head? And there's danger of wrecking more than just the cover - looks like (even with beefy bolts) the half head might shift and damage valve gear ? With the BM bars you're asking for trouble. Personally I'd stick with ordniary cover and some all encompassing bars like Ernie's to prevent any damge in first place.
I admire the idea though, nice thinking. ;) two ashtrays for the price of one

Err... surely every tyre ever made is a compromise between grip and longevity? Except perhaps Cheng Shin ;) where there is no grip to be compromised.

fcuk me the silencer is worth more than the rest of the bike!

you are showing a bit too much leg for this type of "forum" if you dont mind me saying.

HPN Silencer Sound Good?

Hi,

What is that silencer like? Does it sound good?...can you attach sound sample for all us saddos....

Secondly, any chance of some more pictures of the pannier frame that fits around the exhaust?

Cheers

Sounds good and it seems to 'pop' nicely whan de-throttling (probably not a good thing!) but I'm not too sure re: touring as it is pretty loud (will let you know in Sept as taking it over to Spain for a couple of weeks).

I've no idea how to attach a sound sample and I don't have a digital camera (Steptoe took those photos)....sorry

Tourances, with a 90mm 21" hoop with all that weight (not too mention the rider ;) ) it needs all the help it can get with grip. Tourance serves that purpose well. Though if I pursue the high mudguard route I may try some TKC 80's for that more purposeful look and performance :D

That'll be Touratech Zega pannier framework, as worn by all discerning PD Classic riders... The HPN Baja muffler doesn't protrude out any more than the OE with heatshield fitted.

If he is serious he should get rid of those round things and replace them with the rectangular ones as they are much stronger, (according to BM*) - they are a lot less likely to hole

Are those the regular 80G/S front forks?

Nice socks - tell you are in the summer mode

My experience is that there is not that much difference in strenght between the round and the rectangular rockers. They both can't stand the asphalt for long.

Nice bike dude, I like the simplisticy of your bike. There is not to much on it and not to little. Cases, single seat and big tank - don't need much more well except for the wheels, engine etc. Very nice indeed.
