I'm thinking of riding from london to dakar and wondered if anyone new how I could ship a bike back home. Any ideas or advice about riding through north africa much appreciated.

Hello there,

I`ve moved this to the more appropriate 'Travel' forum.

P.S.

Without me being 'grumpy'.....we have a degree of Forum etiquette on this site, and it`s good form to at least spend a minute or two saying hello to eveyone...rather than coming straight in with a question.

That`s why there`s a Newbie`s Forum :thumb

Welcome aboard :thumb

That's a very big question........is there anything specific you want to know???

FWIW, Dakar is a dump......not worth going to unless you're a hard core P-D follower and want to go there for the end of the rally.

It's also only 2 weeks riding away, so it's probably not worth shipping the bike back.

The obvious route is fairly easy to do, particularly now there's a full tarmac road through the Western Sahara......make sure you factor in a stop at the Zebrabar near St Louis, Senegal (It's a mini-paradise desert island with a trust bar and a perfect place for some R&R after the desert) and don't try acnd cross at Rosso.....take the dyke road to Diama instead.

Probably worth doing a search here on the various countries...there are a fair few of us who've gone down that way ;)....or ask some specific questions :thumb
