Getting maps from a Nav V onto a Mac & into Basecamp

I used some Clean-Up software for Mac's kindly installed by Tosser judge. I wouldn't dare touch anything else involving that load of mumbo-jumbo.

In my world, a computer either works or it doesn't and easiest is best. For all else, there's judge.

It seems to have worked, which surprised me. I am now going to try to pull the same stunt off on my Air. I am putting the kettle on too, just in case.

Well, it seems to be going swimmingly.

I removed the old version of Garmin Express from the Air, reinstalled the latest version and restarted the computer.

I attached my Nav V, Garmin Express finding it very quickly. I then clicked on the reinstall maps, advanced option, selecting Computer Only. It is now trundling away doing its stuff. When finished, the acid test will be whether the latest maps will appear in BaseCamp and if they are already unlocked. It could still be a three cuppa performance.

If it does all work, that will a full thumbs up for Garmin Express, at least on a Mac. It's bloody quirky and they do not make some things very easy. It's odd as their GPS devices are very user friendly.

All went well.

Garmin Express in its latest release form seems to be hunky-dory on a Mac and into Basecamp.

Many thanks Richard ... very informative ... and very useful :thumb

As an aside, unless I've missed something, I've just checked my Garmin Express and I have version 2.3.8(73) checked for updates and I'm told that I have the latest version!

Is this so?

Edit ... just checked Post 8 by Paul. 2.3.8 seems to be the latest

Edit Edit ... and your post 13 where you give 2.3.8(62) as the latest

Garmin Express 2.3.8 (73) as of this morning.

If I click on 'Check for updates' (which is stretching my IT skills to the max) it tells me that I have the latest version.

I wonder why its chosen the sd card when your device has a big hard drive compared to the IV?

It didn't in the end, it chose the device instead.

I have now taken the sd card out of the Nav V as I don't think I'll need it. It's useless for sharing routes, as you have to unscrew the battery cover and I don't play music. The Nav V will now share data by BlueTooth, through I haven't tried it yet.

Yeah, it must help, having all the data native on the device, rather than pulling in from a connected SD card
