Just bought a Zumo 550 second hand, registered it and now have a mygarmin account. Downloaded Basecamp onto the computer, when I plug the Zumo in it shows the currently installed maps, City Navigator Europe NT 2011.20, Deluxe All Regions, Jul 10.

I don't have a disc for this, which was a one-time update from the original City Navigator v9 which I do have the disc for.

I've searched through various threads but no joy.

My question is how do I get the same version of the maps installed into Basecamp without any CD? If the Zumo's not plugged in, all I have is the Global Map option.

I've got the unlock codes for the update from my myMaps page on myGarmin but I'm just going round in circles.

Any help appreciated,

Thanks,

Craig

Mapping updates from Garmin are usually only available for download for a year after purchase. I believe that mapping installed at the time of sale is transferable, the fact that you can see the unlock is sort of proof of this. However, as we're now on 2013.10 your mapping will no longer show as a download.

There are two ways you can tackle this; 1/ call Garmin and ask if they can make it available for you to download, this isn't unheard of. 2/ buy a nuMaps Lifetime subscriptions which gives you four updates a year, around £45 from Handtec, £30 cheaper than from Garmin. That way you'll be bang upto date.

Thanks Bumpkin, valued help as always.

Suspect I'll end up getting the updates as the guy we go on tours with will undoubtedly have the latest mapping, so as I understand it, I will need to have the same mapping version to be able to load his routes into my unit.

Cheers,

Craig

No, any version will do, you'll need to recalculate the route in Basecamp/Mapsource though.

Ah, maybes I'll just give Garmin a call first then, read on another post that they can be helpful with unlocks on 2nd hand units with time expired codes.

Thanks again :beerjug:
