Getting the bugger onto the main stand?

So I can't be the only one having a problem with the 1200 centre stand - why else would they change its position on the 2006 model?

That's just to make it lean over more when it's on the side stand. That way, when you have to heave it upright, you look really butch and hard. That's how I think I look though my missus and my kids think otherwise.

agree with Ken H
and being a short-ar*ed, demi-frog (Hello Mike Prince- where have you been ? not hiding again in a water logged Normandy field :duck: )
that handle makes it a doddle- even loaded.
Right hand on handle, right foot on center stand and straighten your leg!
Rocket science :nono - just a correctly placed handle!
Works for us :rob codgers! ;)

Just watched the annoyingly capable techies at Clarks moving bikes around. They hold the rear carrier with the right hand, the bars with the left hand, and almost face towards the rear of the bike so that they are pushing the stand away from them as much as pushing it down.

OR...
Right hand on frame just above handle, right foot on center stand and straighten your leg!
Rocket science :nono - just a well practiced technique!

Or....

..... use the supplied handle, otherwise known as the pillion peg mounting frame.

Well I would suggest, going to the dealership, having them teach you to use the centerstand on a pre 2005 K1200LT.

After learning that, just be carefull.

My first time putting my 2005 R1200GS on the centerstand, I felt I "Threw" the bike up, and was afraid it might roll backwards !!

Jesting aside, others have covered the technique very well. The only real "effort" you need to use is in straghtening your leg. If your using alot of effort with your arms/hands, your doing it wrong and asking to pull a muscle.
