Yes I would rather have an engine... Went to Gisburn Forest today to try out the new mountain bike trail. The new red route is hugely different from the old one. Loads more technical and a lot harder physically. Took me two and a half hours. There are some cracking technical bits and a great view from the top (plus a good ride down). It's north east of Slaidburn if anyone's interested.

Sounds good, have you been up here to try the Altura trails in whinlatter forest?

At Gisburn today I was chatting to the Forestry chap that built Dalby Forest MTB trails and assisted at Whinlatter. He said they had some cracking trails, with a really good blue route. He also advised against clip-in pedals at Whinlatter as he remembered a couple of points where he wanted to jump off!

I use clip ins and believe me you can get out of them when you need to! They were doing some repairs on the blue route this week cos of the "skidders" wrecking the trail (skids are for kids!) and are asking people to keep off until they`ve bedded in a bit.
It`s worth a drive up http://www.forestry.gov.uk/pdf/fcenwealturatrailleaflet.pdf/$FILE/fcenwealturatrailleaflet.pdf
