Excellent Christmas Treat

Hi Rodsharp, The benefits of the Airflow screen far outweigh your concern of the looks, which will always be a personel consideration.i been using mine for 6000 miles and have enjoyed every mile,with the visor up and none of 'OE' buffeting,£130 very well spent. The simple adjustablity is great, i have marked my screen, a couple of pen marks,so that i know my favourite poistion,then for two up riding i lower it,also hot weather,it is lowered to its bottom poistion.There are NO disadvantages for me with the Airflow screen,IMHO BMW should fit them as standard equipment,perhaps that'll would help sell more bikes! I call my GS The Beast because of its unique 'looks',so the Airflow enhances the look

Not at all - I'm a relative short arse and can see over the screen

I agree the screen looks crap but then the GS is no Ducati 916! I have had one for about 9000 miles and the only problem with it is that every other bike (including my RT) just ain't as good. It really does transform the bike particularly for the high speed extended motorway trip...visor up at 90 no problems.

As for visibility, I have no problems looking over the screen and tend not to look just in front of me when riding as this is when the problems do start.

I have had mine on for about 8k now, it does not get rid of all noise, but compared to any other bike I have ever owned (Sportsbikes) it is much better on wind roar, but does have some lower frequency noise - still much better overall with Autocom delivering clear music to past a ton (most sportsbikes I had were drowning the music at much past 90)

Even in the highest position I can see over it if I am actually looking where I am going as opposed to where I already am.

I don't even find it too ugly now, cerainly would not go back to stock screen again.

I would suggest that it would make no difference to you as you probably cant reach the footrests anyway judging by that comment above

have 6 ft and am well aware of how to look and judge a road......but just hate when the little strip of free view gets smaller and smaller the taller a screen is. I'm riding for thirty years and still almost no metal in my body......I think it has to do with a clear view and head

I am only 6'1, so drop the screen 1 inch from max and you will be fine

I normally only need it about half way up to defelct most the wind over my head, only use it max'd out when it is pissing down.

Unless you really are looking a few feet in front of you it does not interefere with cision at all, so unless you plan on riding everywhere at 5 mph you should be looking over the top, I am guessing even off-road (I am no expert on these things) you should be looking a fair way in front.

Certainly on the road you should be looking ahead a good distance and plotting your route (Blue Book, IAM Beter Rider, Keith Code etc. all seem to think you should not be looking just in front of thy front hoop)

If you insisit on looking 2 inches in front of the bike at all times the screen still gives better protection in the lowest setting.

I assume you also ride with no visor / goggles as these too get in the line of vision, and far worse than the Givi screen (Which is cleverly made from meterial that is clear)

as I said , I'm well aware of where to read the road and believe me i look far ahead too , just like most guys that want to survive do .

but it looks to me like another fair weather captain is trying to lecture a old sailor................have you ever being riding in shitty conditions on wet and dirty roads or at night through twisties..........after about 20 miles your sophisticated material is full of dirt and unless you stop every ten minutes you see nothing through the screen and the field of vertical vision is reduced to the horizon and the top of the screen........ I just don't like that........that's all I'm saying '''''''

Back to the screen, had a good look at mine today, both riding and stationary.

I found it only really interferes with vision where you get the overlap - which for me is looking less than 10 foot in front, I tried riding at this vision point and 5mph is pretty scary!

On the highest setting I do not need to look through the screen much - even around town, and the upper part of the screen is easy to look through, even in shite weather at night I have not found it a problem.

On the lowest setting I see about 20 foot ahead without looking through the screen at all - and can't see why you would ever be looking this close up, even at 10-15 mph by the time you see something this close up your gonna hit it anyway.

If you really want you can completely remove the upper bit and then not have to worry about it getting dirty, but then all the shit will be in ya face instead!
