Givi Airflow Screen review

Tried my bike today with no earplugs, hardly any wind noise, compared to sportsbikes which I find unbearable past about 40mph, with the screen fully up I foun 60 was fine, will still use earplugs more often than not, but nice to have the option not too when your not gonna be getting up to high speed much (in town / narrow lanes / mountain passes)

It also allows for music to be clearly heard at GS cruise speeds (up to 3 figures) with earplugs in, ideal for the long runs. Happy punter.

5'8 - 2010 GS using a low seat. I ordered some earplugs and being that I am riding much more on 60mph roads I'm feeling the buffeting. I was going to start with the screen first and then moving to the winglets and torbs if no improvement unless anyone has some better advice? Interesting I moved my stock screen down and that was better than up? I have a Touratech Zumo mount and bar installed and I am thinking that should not interfere with the screen? Thoughts would be great.

I,m the same height as you and have recently fitted this screen .It works perfectly for me ,just enough turbulance fealt to let you know you are still alive and not sat in a sterile box , in fact I forgot to close the visor for the first 1/2 hour!!! No problems with the Zumo550 in the Touratech bracket on their fixing bar(the taller one),just tweaking it a little but seem to have it nailed, for me ,first time

Givi Airflow

Had one on my GS used it for about 70 miles and was well impressed. Just swapped GS for GSA. Guess what I have got for sale?

Installed the screen yesterday and wow what a difference. Did a couple of test runs and small tweeks and got up to 60mph with the visor still open. Great add on.

Quick note that I noticed small manufacturing 'knick' in one of the AF screens and called Cieran. No questions asked sent me out a replacement part under warranty next day. Nice to see that service and value go hand in hand and I would recommend DK for others. Thanks Cieran! :thumb2

PS - Would advise against removing the Givi stickers as the glue they use is a real real PITA to get off.

Just fitted an Airflow screen. I see what people mean about the instructions - they give you a few clues and then you're on your own working it out. Unfortunately it's so miserable out, all damp, drizzly and wet that I can't be bothered to go and try it.

That advice would have been real handy before I discovered the same thing!

Also do not try and adjust them on the move, I thought as it had a lip to stop it easily pulling out the top I could test it in such a manner, but even at 40-50 the wind blast makes it very stiff, and if you wiggle it you may find it suddenly jumps out of the runners and twats you in the face - at least that was my experience.

:D

I looked at mine and decided I must NOT try and adjust it while riding. Thanks for reinforcing that decision.

Best to find a good stretch of road at 50mpg and try the various configurations. I tried it on the motorway full way up and it was wonderful.

givi tall screen

just taken mine off found that in wet weather i was trying to look through to wet layers of plastic not very good tired to ride with visor up up in heavy rain this is not an option so back to standard one for me

GIVI AIRFLOW

Hi, New here also, takin del of new 1200gs on 1st March. [Triple Black]
I'm sure i will replace screen based on various test rides and am considering Givi Airflow, BUT i do not want to look 'through' the screen, so would this be the case with this one ?
I'm 5' 10" by the way.
Thanks, Tim.

Welcome Tim. The thing is a versatile as an egg and you certainly do not have to look through it. I'm 5'7 and I have it just below my snozzle (not exactly aerodynamic) and as Papa Bear would say it is just right. You would certainly not have to look through it if you didn't want to.

+1 :thumb2

I have one and have added winglets as well....boy what a difference, 85MPH visor up....no buffeting...highly recommend it. I have mine set about 2" from the lowest setting and do not look through. (I,m 6ft with standard seat height set on low back/high front with a Shoei Qwest - another great bit if kit).

help please

hello givi users, just read the good stuff about the but have a few questions:

i see most users are gs users and maybe not gsa users. i have a gsa with the extra touratech spoiler fitted but down the motorway my head still wobbles (i also changed my peaked arai to a shark lid) and sometimes feel like the bike and myself are going to get blown away. the noise is awful and the whole thing effects everything from speed, fatigue, concentration, hearing....:(

when i tuck down behind the screen and the wind dies down it's ok to do 90mph and it feels like i'm doing 60mph but it's not ideal. tried different tilts and tobinators but still not improved.

do you think the af330 will solve my issues?
with the givi on full height can you see over it?
does it improve rain on visor?

06 gsa
5ft 11 tall
seat on high position

best additions to bike so far:
full HID
Dunlop tr91 tyres :)
handlebar mitts/muffs (from buckpads on ebay) - superb!

Hi Simply I have a GS and a Shark Helmet and it has made a big difference for me. I'm 5'8 with a low seat and I can't see over the screen anyways :eek. I was out in the rain today for the first time with the new screen and you could see the rain flowing around the screen which was quite neat to see how the aerodynamics work. I don't know on the GSA but I think the magic in the AF is that it can up down and sideways very easily. I might add some winglets at some point because I see from the rain that the wind comes up from the sides and some other people have good reviews from the combination. At the end of the day its £129 and worth a try. If it doesn't work I'm sure someone else will buy it. I got mine from DK motorcycles and the bloke said that I could return it if I didn't like it but no one ever has. The helmet is a bit noisy and I am adding ear plugs but it is the only flip I could fit my noggin into. :blast

thanks for the reply. it's handy to know i could return it to dk. i'm planing a few runs this year and motorways are unavoidable so maybe i'll take the plunge. i guess i could sell the touratech spoiler - it is good and does assist but still needs improvement.

I am about 6'1 and with the AF on full height and seat in upper position on my GS I can see over it when looking up the road normally, but it is sort of half in vision, especially if your going slow and looking jut in front of the bike and I find this a bit distracting so I prefer it an inch or two from full height.

Can't see you losing more than £20-£30 if you sell it on so probably worth a try.

I was out with my Airflow for the first decent run today. My impression is better than the similar height normal screen I had before. Still some buffeting but it is better. I'm 6'3".
