Givi Airflow Screen review

It is not too bad, but you need to pull the rubber grommets from the BMW screen and use them with the Givi.

I spent ages trying to understand the instructions, then gave up and just removed the OE screen and reversed the dissasembly process to fit the Givi.

Takes some experimenting to get it how you want it, for me all the way back and about half way up worked well, and right down when very hot.

Just don't try and wiggle it up on the move (down is OK) or you may find the top half suddenly jumps out and smacks you in the face - luckily I held onto it, but I almost ended up with a screen smaller than stock

Thanks for this, all fitted and IMO does not look as bad as some others. Tomorrow will tell how effective.

I personally find the GIVI better than the ADV screen (I've owned 2 GSA's) and it costs about a third of the price.

Agree, having moved from a GS with a Givi to a GSA.....no doubt in my mind the Givi is better....especially around the shoulders....and it is adjustable.

What I would say is that the GSA screen is improved hugely with the MRA X screen....almost as good as the Givi.

Amazing difference from the OEM screen. 80+ & no wind in the face. What a change. Riding N on the M1 this morning into a reasonable headwind. Some strong headwind & strong buffeting. Lowering the main screen and raising the upper reduced this significantly.
Hope not a stupid question but has anyone found the Givi effecting (-) MPG?

Take care....due to the lack of wind noise/buffeting you will loose all sense of speed which could result in less MPG.

Also beware of corners being tighter than you thought and the boys in blue with those funny ray gun thingies

But your brain works better when its not being shaken in a tumble dryer and your eyes work better to see the scameras.

sorry never replied back, but have been busy at work and riding the bike ! I am going to have another try with the 330, it just looked huge when I put it on my bike, and I was off on a big tour just days after doing so, and didnt want to risk it affecting the tour. Since I took it off, havent noticed the buffetting so much , but stock screen definitely isnt effective. I also sort of wondered about fitting a really short screen, like the flyscreen triumph fit to their bikes. Rationale being an uninterupted air flow is better.But the GS is a touring bike, so effective screen is a must. I note the new GS at NEC had quite different screen shape...wonder how that will work.?
For me, having a long trunk, I sit too high on the bike, and when I ramp up the preload, I sit higher again. It is screen height I think which is imprtant...I also looked at the laminar lip?? If I dip down all the buffetting goes, so IMO its all about height.
I also picked up some " winglets" from ebay for £30, so will be fitting them too.

My GSA (standard screen) came with a clip-on spoiler. With the screen raised I get enough buffeting to be a problem. The spoiler makes it worse. With the screen fully down/back, rain drops move down my visor not up as any other bike I've owned.

With the spoiler fitted and screen down/back, I get less rain on the visor and less buffeting. But the visor fogs up. Clicking it open clears the fog but the now (relatively) loose visor rattles side to side.

There's no doubting the 330 looks pretty horrible, but you get used to it after a while. I'm also tall with a long trunk, and the combination of 330 + winglets is pretty good for me. I use it in the lowest rake position, with the top screen fully extended. I actually found it more effective than the screen on a 1200RT that I borrowed during my last service.

I have had two 1200GS' and have had this screen for the last couple of years and think it's marvellous. The bike was good for long distances before and is even better with this screen. I'm 6'2" and found the original screen a bit low and experienced a fair amount of wind noise and buffeting. I originally tried an MRA two part screen which was tall and narrow; it reduced the wind noise etc but that was in a quite specific zone and arms and shoulders were left exposed. The Givi screen was a revelation and in my opinion gives protection to the upper body similar to that provided by the fairing on the 1200RT I had previously. I do get some rain on my visor but have to lean way out to the side to get the wind to clear it. I cannot recommend this screen enough.

just got my first 06 plate gs picked it up from the bike shop headed back up motorway & couldn't believe the amount of buffeting.
so i joined this site read through alot of threads on subject & took the majority view & ordered a givi af330 screen & winglets.
have fitted screen went out run its alot better than standard screen.
yet to fit winglets but panel you bolt them too seems bit flimsy
will have to adapt it some how mine's the earlier model

for your ref got givi af330 screen for £125.00 with 10% discount in ride

Have a feel under the panel and you will discover a metal bracket with pre drilled holes in it for fixing the Winglets too..............just drill from underneath with a dremel .....................simples.

had the standard gsa screen. had the touratech spoiler then had torbinators. after all that gave up and got the givi. it ain't a pretty thing but i'm 6ft and would not swap back at all. i ride at 80-100mph with my shark evoline (open face mode) with my tunes from the iphone via scala bluetooth playing at medium levels. no noise, buffeting or wind in the face.

my advice would be to get one and try it. you can always keep the protective film on and if it doesn't suit you send it back or re-sell it.

Sounds like good advice, think I will go for a Givi screen. When you say the top and the lower part are at differeent settings, I assume it is in two parts which I did'nt relaise?

if it's the af330 it has a sliding top part which is adjustable and removable.

you can tilt/adjust the angle of the screen just like the standard bmw one and then slide the top part up and down.

it takes a few adjustments to get it how you like it as everyone is different build/height and different crash helmets.
