I'm thinking of investing in a pair of these as they seem to offer a good compromise between extra capacity, price and preserving narrowness and ability to filter without too much damage! Would be interested to have feedback from anyone whose used them. Specific points are 1) ease of fitting/removal to their frames? 2) total width of GS with E21 panniers fitted? 3) possible interference with pillion? 4) enough clearance of exhaust? I'm also planning to use them on my 700 Transalp as they will be interchangable between bikes once the frames are fitted. Hopefully the sale of the currently fitted varios (which I find too bulky) will fund the Givis and frame sets!

they are ok i had some on my hayabusa for the same reason,

a good compromise.:thumb no problem with the pillion as they are smaller /therefore you do get a bit more leg room .

I've just gone back to the GS from the RT and declined the "free panniers" and had the GIVI rails and rack fitted. I use a 46 lt top box and 36 lt panniers, a bit wider perhaps than the BMW vario cases but easier to attach and way more capacity.

Standard Vario panniers are narrower than these, expandable for the extra load and look better too. :nenau However you have me on the swapping from bike to bike bit :blast

Are you off your box man! :rob £400+ worth of free panniers that you could have got rid of on ebay, that would have paid for the Givi kit and a nice meal out to boot.

£500 that BMW give the dealers for the panniers, given to me off the price of the bike. Already had the GIVI stuff from a few years back. So basically cost me £130 to have it able to be used on the GS, leaving me £370 in pocket for that nice meal out!

OOh Good Man!:thumb2

Interesting that something for free can equate to a £500 discount :nenau isn't it.

I suppose it just proves that nothing is really for free.

Val.

PS: Hope you had a great meal :D

Dealer told me when sorting out the deal that they get given the £500 for the panniers by BMW, he just "gave" this to me as part of the deal. As a result we're both happy.
