Hey everyone.

I'm in the market for a new top box, the Ali Express special was good for the first year of owning the bike but now I'm mainly 2 up with luggage most of the time, it just doesn't cut it anymore. The flex in the base plate is too much, to the point it's now "slapping" Mrs O in the back. Time for an upgrade.

I've had my eye on the Givi Trekker 58 for a while but I'm at a loss with how it's going to fit. I currently have a Vario base fitted, that's all that the bike came with when I bought it. I understand that the Monokey base plate for the 1250 only fits on the standard base plate. This bringing me on to my conundrum.

1. Is there a base plate out there that directly fits on the Vario plate?
2. If not, will I need to buy a standard plate as well as the monkey base plate for the box? I really don't want to do this, the cost is already racking up 1 week post 12,000 service. Mrs O won't be best pleased!
3. Is it worth scrapping the idea altogether and just getting a Vario box?
4. Other alternatives are very much considered.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all
:)

I have a GS tubular steel rear rack and Givi mounting plate that came off my 1250. I had an alloy Givi 58 ltr box fitted to it.

I'm away on holiday at the moment but will be able to take some pictures this coming weekend.

I'd be looking for £100 posted.

Cheers

That sounds very tempting and seems to solve my issues.

Send over photos and we can conflab. Happy to have a ride out to South Wales, need a blow out 👌

You can pick up used non vario bases on eBay cheaply if you're not in any rush, I paid circa £20 for one then £35 for the aluminium monokey plate to mount my 58l outback box.

It previously had the below adaptor which did mount directly on top of the vario base, just didn't like the look of it.

Hi, a couple of pics of the tubular steel rear rack and Givi mounting plate off my '23 1250GS.

The blue tub has the additional fixings bolts and spacers.

Looking for about £100, or £90 if you take a ride and collect it.

Post code is NP4 5YH, number 32.
