Givi Top Box With Lights

I am taking delivery of my new GS next week I am going to fit my Givi Maxia (need the capacity!) and want to connect the built-in stoplights. I have searched the forum, and have found conflicting views- all quite old posts - regarding possible Canbus issues if connecting to the bikes stoplight. Has anyone connected their Givi stoplights on an '08 GS (if there's any difference )

No comment about the fitting on the GS CANBUS, but I used to have a Givi stoplight added to the case on my CS - great idea and relatively easy to fit (ignoring the wiring in bit anyway)

Just a small niggle in that there is at least one, possibly two sets of electrical contacts that in my opinion could have been designed a little better. Worked OK initially but then I started to get intermittent failures of the high light just cos of the contacts - fixed it for a while by adding some layers of solder to the contacts but when I changed bikes although I still rode with a Givi case, I didn't get the stop light.

BTW on my case the two sets of contacts were between the rack and case bottom and the case bottom and case top - it is possible that they have now designed the wiring in the case to go up the hinge side instead of the open side of the case thus removing one set of contacts.

I just wired a LOT of LEDS into my Maxia, spliced into the stop and indicators, no probs at all.

I put the Givi incandescent lights on my Maxia...

Just y'd them into my stop light using the included spade connector that exists on the back of the light socket... not a problem as far as the bike electronics go..

Though the Givi connector is crap and will often oxidize over leaving you without the extra brake lights... Thinking about fitting a more robust, though less convenient one...

The Givi case to rack electric connectors are really rubbish, and over time fail, a shame a great idea that hasn't been implemented properly, I didn't have any canbus problems and also have the LED stop lights in my indicators.

Fitted the new improved rack the weekend, does not come with previous connectors.

Givi lights

I have had the same e52 top box with the stop lights fitted to my past 5 bikes , each bike i did the wiring and never had a problem with either the conections or the box fitting

Makes me feel much better knowing the plonker behind me knows for sure that i am stopping
