Have just had a givi 52 litre trekker delivered from Motocard, Spain, great service and quite a saving. I also got the alloy rack as I thought it looks much better but now realise it is only designed to take 6kg and the box alone weights 5.2 kg:eek
So now I'm thinking maybe I need to replace the rack with the ugly plastic and metal plate one but can't find anywhere what weight that will take. Anyone else been through this or am I just acting like an old woman!

Quoting 6kg for a rack is just a damage limitation exercise .... if it feels solid stop worrying yourself :thumb

Hi

I have a conversion plate which allows you to fit the Givi rack onto the OEM rack. This was bought as a present but is not required.
I am intending to put it up for sale section and have a couple of pics. However away for a few days but pm me if interested

Hi

I have just put the same top box on with the SW Motech adapter plate. It's a much neater fitting than the Givi ones and very substantial, although expensive. I can't see weight being an issue as long as you're not ridiculous about what you put in there.

Only just found out about theses sw-motech racks, I see from their web site they are rated to carry 12kg, where did you get yours from as those on the motech site don't seem to have the givi lugs and catch to hold the monkey case.
I'm going to try and return the Givi SRA5108 for a refund.

Got mine from Chainspeed. You have to order the adapter plate seperately but they are there on the site. Like I said , if you add the price of the adapter they are pricey!

Just go to he Givi web site and the will quote you the weight recommendations on the std rack.

You would think that would be the case, but the weight capacity does NOT appear on the Givi uk web site.

I go to my motorcycle, and from the list of product options open instructions where they give a 6kg warning on the Alu plate.

Mines not fallen off yet - then again on my trips to Tesco's I tend not to fill it with bags of sugar ;)

I have the same alloy givi monokey rack fitted to my lc. It is rated for a max 6kg load but i would bet it can carry a fair bit more than that.
Safe max weight loads on a crane for instance are generally 70% less than the crane could possibly lift, probably the same for bridges etc. You''ve only got to pull on the rack to see/feel that it can carry much more than 6kg. Would think its designed to carry topbox plus max carrying weight of 6kg. Someone tell me im talking crap.
