Giving an RS a new lease of life.

But I'll be a cool one with hearing :pirate

When there are no more RT's then RT's will be "cool"... For cool then do what RT's do best and wear jeans and a jacket not made make you look like Michelin man... For noise reduction get a screen the right size... Open faced lid, sunglasses, chill out... At the end of your several hundred mile journey, get off, light stretch and look forward to the same tomorrow...

Now where's that bloke who chopped his into yet another Desert Sled... Oh yeah, photographing it from yet another feckin angle and posting it on the net...:)

I can barely follow this thread as another classic gets trashed :blast:blast:blast spose it makes the diminishing number of remaining original "RS's" more valuable :thumb2
.

IMO they are just bikes. Plenty of RSs & RTs were made, lots are have been kept in original condition and some restored to concourse. There will always be good examples around.

Blokes have been fiddling with bikes in the shed since bikes were first born. I modified most bikes I've owned - sometimes just lights or a screen, other times more major works. It's part of the motorcycling experience for me.

Modifying for the better is one thing and I'm all for it, I've been building and modifying bikes for 35 years, the vast majority of these bobbers, scramblers and cafe racers are badly done pieces of shite done by people with with no original thought and just looking to make a few quid. If the changes being made to the bikes actually improved them I'd be all for it, unfortunately the vast majority are just little more than vandalism.

I'm not holding my breath over jelly beans effort.

And mine, spring and Autumn is RT time!

Actually I have a R80RT mono that needs to turn into something more useful, it's a basic spec one,

I was thinking of maybe turning it into a G/s look a like!

or making it look older, with speedo in the headlamp!

I am all for modding them into what you want!

but I will be keeping my R100RT though!

I see you on the first, and raise with this: 251633847836

Several people have had a good laugh at that one (and the asking price, on another forum).

. all from RS's
Why would you need an RS as "donor"? A cooking basic R80 has enough oomph (especially if with the lower FD ratio) to propel such a designer bike from one cafe to another.

I think they look much better if you keep the essence of the bike but modify them in a subtle way. This has the same mods as most of those shitty cafe bikes but choice of a period style colour and seat shape changes the look completely.

I built this 20 odd years ago. Upset a few people for modding a Laverda. Looking back the styling stood up quite well.

Its only when you see and original SF2 that you realise what mods were made.
