We in Gloucestershire have set the first 3 BikeSafe course dates for 2012. If you’ve been thinking about coming along, or if you have a motorcycling relative, friend or colleague, please pass these details on. The courses are open to all, regardless of whether they are resident in Gloucestershire, or not.

These courses are damn good value, and probably the best value training you will ever come across.

I would highly recommend the bikesafe course and in particular Martin and Simon who run the Gloucester dates, both are experienced Police Motorcyclist and more importantly extremely keen motorcyclists.

If you have not been it is well worthwhile, no preaching about going slow, just good advice on observational and riding skills (Roadcraft)

Plus a big thumbs up to all the other volunteers around the country who run these courses, and give up their time to help out with the ride outs :thumb2 if your not anywhere near these guys track down your local outfit.

I can vouch for the Gloucester guys their course is really good. And the lunch was awesome, especially the chocolate cake :)

Another vouch for these courses! I'm going to book again this year if there are spaces.

Tom

+1 I did the course last year and thought it was really good. Didn't stop a numpty knocking me off though! Thinking of doing it again thus year to help get my confidence back up :thumb

Hello Martyn I am currently going through IAM and wondering if would be a good additional practise or perhaps best left til after IAM?

I know it sounds like a silly question but in two minds... any advice?

It's not a silly question. My advice is to come along on the BikeSafe. The theory side will make life easier for both you & your IAM Observer. You're always welcome to give me a ring & discuss in more detail.

Have now booked onto May's program. I should be through IAM test within a few weeks, but I have enjoyed the learning curve of the roadcraft so much, I see no reason to stop there... looking forward to it!

So, what happened to Nigel Murray? He was your buddy when I did this course, Martyn.

I last saw him posing on his Blackbird in Moreton in Marsh quite some time ago...

Hi

John

I agree that the BikeSafe course will act as a foundation for you to progress on to either the IAM or RoSPA course, (hopefully the IAM) and it will make life a lot easier for you and your Observer.
You will enjoy Bikesafe and it's a bargain:)

Following unsuccessful gender realignment surgery, he ran away to join the circus.

Or did he retire, & go to work for Worcestershire Highways ?

It was one or the other:beerjug:

He's still involved with RoSPA I understand.
