Hi guys,

I'm in the market for a new set of gloves. My main riding jacket is this
http://www.hein-gericke.co.uk/shop/product_info.php/cPath/1_15_7/products_id/7129

The HG CRUISE II GTX JACKET (black / grey).

The jacket cuffs are on the snug side and I'm currently wearing my (old) gloves over the jacket cuffs.

I'm wondering what would be best regarding any new gloves. Gloves over jacket cuffs or gloves inside jacket cuffs.

I can see pros and cons of both. I'd like to hear your thoughts...

Many thanks

It depends how wet you want the inside of yer gloves to be. :D

If ya can`t get yer gloves inside the sleeves, you can get overmitts or cuffs to cover the gap.

Or never ride below 100mph. :D :D

Outside for me, simply because it's easy then to get your gloves on and off.
In fact I've never really thought about it before and I've always been an outside person and it's only now that I need to think of a reason why.

Summer gloves go inside the sleeve so a draught can go up and keep me cool but that's dry weather only.

Goretex gloves go outside sleeves always in wet weather.

And from about now until Easter next year summer gloves go inside muffs :D

OO err expand on this please:aidan

second thoughts, not really......

No really its quite safe, look......

I bought a bike once that had those muff things fitted and they did work incredibly well.
Of course I took them off because I wanted to look tough.

I was always a gloves outside person, until I got my latest HG jacket. It has piping either side of the cuff zip that acts like a gutter and chanels water into my gloves:mad:. So it is now gloves on the inside along with all the faff that is involved. but at least I keep my hand dry. :thumb

My BMW winter gloves are double cuffed, so the inner goes inside and the outer goes tight with draw strings. Perfect, no draught up the arms and no water in . Best of both worlds.
Better still, ride with comfy summer gloves in winter and get a set of Tucanourbano's from this site. The fluffy inner, will roll out, in dry weather and the fur almost goes up to your elbows. If its wet, push it in :augie

Around town I wear my gloves on the outside if dry, tucked in if wet, but on dual carriageways, I get it up to top gear, set the throttle with a rubber band and then put my hands in my pockets. It's easy to stear by shifting your position and your hands stay nice and warm and dry.

Answer get a decent jacket that goes both inside the gloves and outside ala Rukka Armax etc. The narrow cant get gloves under cuffs of the HG toerag was my biggest gripe with them. Especially when Wet as posted above it soaked into the inner glove lining..

Gloves inside, but it is a right pain to do on my Scott Jacket so if it is a short trip then I'll do gloves outside.

The time I didn't do this it rained on the motorway, filled my otherwise waterproof gloves up with water and the only way to empty them was to raise my hand. Always dry inside if I put my gloves inside the cuffs.

Not sure I understand though, surely at 70mph all of the water should be going past me and not backwards into my gloves ?

A.

In or out or no gloves at all it doesn't matter with muffs fitted. :thumb

I'm going to go with outside the jacklet next time...

Realize it's not a problem for you in the UK, but riding with short gloves in the desert southwest creates a problem for riders in the US.
My Alpinestars gloves and Aerostich suit leave about a 1" wide uncovered skin strip when I ride. Makes for some unusal tan patterns....
