Gloves Inside or Outside of Jacket Sleeves/Cuffs??

My jacket has a inner elasticated cuff to stop water travelling up the sleeve if gloves are tucked inside. The sleeve is also zipped so can be 'widened' to accommodate a glove and then zipped closed.

when i had hein gericke jackets i bought a pair of alpinestars goretex/primaloft gloves which had a double cuff- cant remember what theyre called, but i'm smoking around in rukka gear now which has a double cuff on the jacket, so i could flog the alpinestars i spose, as theyre sitting doing nuffink......

I have the Rukka gear and as I understand it the material is designed so that the water passes through the outer layer and then runs down on top of the gortex layer. The end result is that the water comes out along the skirt of the jacket and for the arms it comes out at the wrists. So if you put your gloves over the jacket you get very wet (as soon as I take my gloves off after a big wet the water runs over my hands).

I would assume most multi-layer gortex jackets work the same so I guess in the end it's down to how your gear is made.

I've got a pair of those, very nice gloves if a little cold in the depth of winter. However even the double cuff inner was a pain in the harris to get inside the cuffs of an H-G toerag jacket. issue with the jacket cuffs being rediculously narrow not the the gloves.

Depends.

If your wrists are above your elbows when you ride, then outside. If your wrists are lower than your elbows, then inside. Mine are about level, so I tuck my Alpinestars into the cuffs of the Rukka. No leaks yet...
