Can anyone assist please?

I have recently noticed that after sending out an e-mail the recipient responds, however more frequently recently I am not seeing their reply! This is on a MacBook using Apple mail. I have opened a browser and logged into my gmail account directly now via Apple mail and open the extended search - archived, deleted and spam - but they are not there.

If it was just one person I would think it was them, but it is several now and some of these contain important information. I have searched online and although it seems to be something encountered by quite a few, I have not found a solution. All recipients are in my contacts.

Can anyone assist? (y)

remove Apple from the equation. Login to gmail using the Google app on an Android device.

Any chance your gmail archive is full - max 15gb.

Presumably you have run through the steps suggested here: -

Good suggestion, however he should have had warning messages from Gmail telling him he was near his limit. I certainly did as I had been negligent in not deleting some big files which were inboth my sent and received boxes.

When you say you’ve logged into your gmail on a browser via Apple Mail, do you really mean that?

If you log directly into gmail on a browser, there should be no Apple Mail involved, and what you see there is all there is.

Have you tried a test email from another account to your suspect account?

Yes - checked and plenty of storage left. 👍

I will try this tomorrow - but logging in direct to gmail and using full search facilities has not helped albeit via a browser via safari. 👍

No - I logged in via a browser via safari to check gmail directly.

I receive the vast majority of e-mails, however a few people have assured me that they have replied to one of my e-mails, only for me to be unable to locate their response. Those stating this are from different areas of my business/life, therefore I accept what they have told me. They send me the info direct and not via a reply and I will receive it. Most strange.

Still searching for a solution.

Thanks for responses guys.

On the mac go into preferences within Apple Mail (cmd+,) and double check the path of the folders

This link explains a bit about folders and paths although not for your specific issue https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8041701

I would also suggest you check the rules to see if you’ve accidentally set one on gmail or on Apple Mail

Just to define the problem:

1) you have a gmail account. You usually use Apple Mail as your mail client, but you have also logged directly to your gmail account via a browser to check email

2) If someone sends you an email, you say you receive it. How do you know?

3) sometimes people hit reply to an email you have sent them, but you don’t receive it. Is it always the same people, and you receive none of their replies, or is it different people. Do you receive any replies at all?

Possible remedies.
If you have more than one email account set up in Apple Mail, check you are sending email from the account you think you are sending it from. If you send it from a second account by accident, the reply will be to that account, so check all you your inboxes.

As Wileey said, check you have no rules set up. Rules are actions set up on certain events, like “if I get an email from Fred automatically delete it”

1) Yes

2) Based upon the normal amount of e-mails I receive, including the junk stuff and stuff related to work, my business and family. Obviously there could be others I don't know of ........

3) It appears to be only a few people, more than one but as far as I can tell not huge numbers (but see 2) above) and from different arenas of communications.

I do have more than one account set up as you have deduced. I have checked all accounts and make a point of separating what they are used for, it only happens on one account as far as I can see (subject to 2) above) as I am not noticing a lack of responses or waiting for e-mails as on the account in question. Going into the gmail account via a browser and not via apple mail, I have used the advanced search facilities without success. I'm heading into work later and will log in via a non apple product using chrome check all settings and am going to delete my mail account from the computer and will re-install it when I get home.

Perplexing but thanks for the advice and tips.
