Bear's solution is, honestly, really really good. I'll give it a try.
I like the security strap.
I recently had my GoPro flying away from the bike (I use a RAM mount screwed underneath the steering plate) at speed. Incredibly it survived. But, no matter how good your mount is, always check the plastic lips at the bottom of the case, where you screw it in on the mount. Mine snapped there. I have to add that is an old Hero, and I used it for many years. It started vibrating a lot in the last hours of use, but I didn't notice the plastic cracking...

I mounted on top of an old helmet once when we went on minimotos... but the view of me (6'2", heavy) on a minimoto was ridicolous enough even without considering the GoPro on top of my head a la teletubbie.
