Going in for warranty work

Up & running!

Just back from an extended stint working in China, picked the bike up as my first priority. Williams have done a first class job of replacing the engine & gearbox (thanks Lads) First thoughts
Engine feels smoother (2kg heavier crank than my original 2014 unit) - not sure what other mods but feels different & quite tight as it should at the moment
Engine much quieter even when warm - did sound like a bag of spanners previously at low revs / low load
Gearbox very much smoother - slight clunk going into 3rd if speed / revs low - none of the nasty grinding / refusals to go into 3rd
Need to run in & put through free 600 mile service & register engine swap with DVLA but very very happy bunny! BMW have looked after me brilliantly & will retain me as a loyal rider / customer going forwards

Hold that last comment!
Travelling into work this morning - 47 miles into running the new engine in, whilst tipped into a decent roundabout with traffic, the engine died & went into 'limp mode' revving at just under 2k rpm, weak as a Kitten & dying at >3k rpm. an embarrassing crawl to work at no greater than 10mph ensued! Phoned Williams who were most apologetic & arrived within the hour to pick mine up & drop off a new R1200R loan bike which rides remarkably well! Just awaiting news on the fault.

Fault is a failed throttle body, not sure if moving it from old to new engine has upset it but now U/S - awaiting warranty replacement - got a nice R1200R to play with - quick shifter brilliant!

Tell them to replace the whole bike. At this rate, your bike will be like Trigger's broom!:P

Think it will be fully replaced bit by bit before the warranty expires! On the positive side, the loan R1200R is a hoot! nowhere near the road presence of the GS
, but fantastic! wind blast a real issue at max speed - couldn't resist seeing if I could top out without being blown off the back
