Unfortunately not by bike:(:(

we are staying at the Riu Tikida Palmeraie Hotel, Marrakech, Morrocco - some good & some not so good reviews but hey ho its a holiday.

Just a week lazing by the pool but i have got a couple of questions to ask the Moroccan Guru's;

1. What is the best money to take there as dirhams are not available here I'm told, and they don't like Travellers Cheques.

2. SWMBO wants to go on a 4X4 trip whilst there, can anyone recommend one.

3. a good outdoor meal in the square in the evening would be nice any recommendation's ?

4. Mozzies????

5. Plug types needed.

6. any does and donts?

sorry for all the questions but I'm sure someone will be able to help.

we are staying at the Riu Tikida Palmeraie Hotel, Marrakech, Morrocco -

we where told by the holiday reps when booking out honymoon that this is the best hotel and we wont be disapointed!

well they couldnt of been more wrong

we waited nearly an hour for out luggage to come to out rooms, the food made us ill full of salt and grease the same food every day,on day8 of our 12 day trip the maids helped there selves to our toiletries such as sun cream and shampoo when reprted to staff nothing was done about it!

we took a trip into marrakech centre which was an experience we where taken to a spice shop where they talk through all the spices whilst insisting on giving you a back massage but then charge you for it even though you declinded and they still insisted

the entertainment team where alwful and didnt speak much english
overall the hotel was lovely and clean apart from the odd cockrotch wondreing around!

i will not be reccommending this hotel to anyone

Enjoy!

Sleep tight - hope the bed bugs don't bite

The bed-bugs story was too long to post.

Read it for yourself here

Take pounds or Euros and change them there.

Good outdoor meal - I recommend the Garden Restaurant in Frigiliana, Andalucia, Spain.

Mozzies - spray on DEET (or use a light splash of petrol) each morning.

Plugs - Use Moto Morocco!

Don'ts - don't bend over a pool table.

:D

3.
We had a meal at the restaurant that looks over the square and although it is a good vantage point to see all, the food wasn't that good, even tho it was cooked in a tagine.

Much better food on the stalls in the square where you can see them cook it :thumb

Normal European 2 pin plugs....

Get money from readily available ATM's dotted about the place....

If you're talking about a meal in the Medina square at night...no problems other than getting pestered by locals...remember to watch for pick pockets in the dark crowds...just take money in your jeans...if taking a day sack wear it in front of your body and not on your back as it might be opened as you walk.....

Other than that...just be persistent in saying no....also...if you get your picture taken with any of the snakes or monkies they'll expect payment..a 50p should suffice....after all it's just a picture with a monkey lol

SWMBO...no short skirts or exposed arms if possible....

Can't think of much more just now due to a bottle of fine Bordeaux red... :thumb
