Goldwing…….nearly

I see your 2022 came with a USB cable already in the left bag......

I just checked and mine has it as well so I'll just pick up a Bluetooth adapter similar to yours, thanks for sharing!

Just been and checked my bike and the USB 2 cable is already installed !!!

The confusion arose as someone said on a facebook group that I would need to install the cable as per the picture a few posts above but it would appear that earlier bikes didnt have the cable pre-installed but 2022 bikes do.

So it should all work fine.

USB 1 in the cubby hole is for the phone to enable Car Play.Don’t try using a splitter USB as it will stop it working.
Then USB 2 in left pannier is for power only so ideal for powering up a Bluetooth dongle.
That one I bought was only a fiver and will enable Car Play without having to use a Bluetooth helmet.

Got there eventually !!!

Afaik, they have always been installed. Mine's a 2020 and it has the usb in the left pannier. (as well as the one in the tank cubby)

I was being led by a helpful guy on Facebook

Works perfectly

Martin thanks for your pioneering work. Once I have deciphered the solution you have arrived atI shall shamelessly copy it (as modified for a GW Tour rather than bagger).

Do keep us posted on how consistently it works for you.

Ok, it’s easy once you know how !.

Firstly order one of these

When it arrives you need to plug it in to the USB2 which should be in your left pannier as shown in pics above.
Then pair the dongle with the bike under Audio Settings and Rider Headset.

Then plug your phone in to the USB1 which is in your top box and Car Play should pop up.

That’s it .

The one that you say is power only,

could be one of two things ,

It's only a power only cable ( cost cutting) or the feed that the cable comes from is power only ( again cost cutting)

Glad you got it sorted.

And a UK source for the Bluetooth receiver….does this look like the required item?

Sorry messages crossed as I see you suggested UK one. A further question: do you have to remove and replace the BT receiver when you start the bike or can it stay in place and it will pair automatically (after the first pairing)?

Again down to the protocols

My Honor 9 phone auto connects to my Sena headset and my Play2 unit in my car

Neither of our phones will auto connect to the head unit in my wifes car, it insists on a manual connection everytime

It just stays in place and when you start the bike the dongle powers up and auto connects.

It would appear that Honda only started fitting the USB2 to left pannier in 2019/20 as the 2018 model certainly does not and a feed has to be taken from under the seat and fed into the pannier. But anything from 2020 ish onwards will have the USB2 already in situ like this

Glad to see you are sorted, but I still can't get my head around Honda logic. If it's some safety concern, what exactly are they saving owners from, if it is so easy to cheat the system. BTW I see it's possible to simply carry a BT wireless rechargeable dongle on the early bikes.

Whatever, I really like the Jeans Blue B look; definitely on my agenda for next season as I can't seem to get a straight answer out of Indian regarding the Pursuit, so I shall watch with interest when you get to some 2-up touring.

The 2023 bagger looks a tad boring in comparison, more reminiscent of the 2018 scheme. The 2022 Tour in blue is just too garish for me, but in fairness I haven't seen one in the flesh, only on TMF.

Yes I’m pleased I grabbed a 2022 bike as the 2023 is a bit boring.

Meanwhile-does anybody know where I can get a dust sheet cover to use when bike is in garage ?
My XL covers I’ve used on other bikes are just too small for this beast.

Honda do one. It was free when I bought mine. It may be worth checking with your dealer.
