Looks good that, Martin

Very pleased with the bike.
The standard low screen will be perfect for over here and I’ll fit the tall screen for trips away.
It’s bloody huge !!

Early days but Apple Car Play seems pretty simple and reliable to use.

Paired my phone with bike
Paired my Neotec 2 with bike.
Plugged phone into USB socket in cubby hole and that’s its-Car Play appeared.

As long as you dont turn helmet off, Car Play resumes where you left off when you start bike again.

Will be very handy to use with the MyRoute Nav app

It's ok as long as you remember that the bike is the "hub" and phone and headset have to be paired with it rather than each other, and its ok until your signal drops out.

It's a shame that Honda didn't use a touch screen, it would have made life a little easier.

Martin, I was going to offer to sell you an original Honda oem black cover, but now you’ve fecked up the smooth bagger lines by fitting a top box it won’t fit

I believe they are still free when you buy a bike.

I agree the Tour screen is a little too tall, it's just over 5" taller than the stock Goldwing screen.

The stock screen pretty much raises up high enough for cold, rain, etc., but then the mounting struts are in my line of sight.

Here it is with a Tour screen with 2.5" cut off, which is about perfect for me.

Just collected it.
Think I’ll refit the short screen for local riding and stick the tall one on for away trips.
So smooth.
Need to suss out all the fecking buttons and get the Shad carrier fitted for the top box.

Very, very nice!

Goldwing DCT Tour , Sat Nav Retrofit.

Hi lads.
After a lifetime of BM’s, I’ve placed an order for a a 2023 DCT Tour.
I had the extended test ride and the bike ticks all my requirements.
Apart from the Satnav.
I’m not into tech so I don’t want to go the Navigation App or Apple Car Play or Waze route at all .
Has anyone successfully retrofitted a BMW Navigator or Garmin Zumo XT at all to a DCT Tour ?
If so can you advise how easy it was to do and what approach/ components did you use to achieve fitment ?
Any advice gratefully received.
Many thanks in advance.

Apple car play, alongside MRA really is the way forward. I’ve just done 4600 miles around Europe last month and that combo is excellent.
Beware of things you hear from people like Traxxion dynamics, they supply solutions to problems that don’t exist. At a big cost.
Yes there are things around to allow you to fit a zumo. The ones I’ve seen don’t look good though

Waze is an app, it just runs on the screen , its not bad, i use copilot as an app . that works on my tablet

I agree ,abiut not wanting to go tech, but there old tech TBH

I’ve only had my bike a few days and Apple Car Play is very easy to use.
As said above, you can use a number of apps for navigation.
The MyRoute App works very well as I used it on my XT last month. But it’ll work instantly via Car Play.
I see that Calimoto, another nav app is about to be compatible with Car Play.
Never tried it though.

I do have a question myself -Car Play works great on the Wing but you need to have a Bluetooth helmet connected.
I have a Neotec 2 and a J Cruise 2 BUT I’d like to use an open face helmet such as my J-O.Only problem is it doesn’t have Bluetooth.
Is it possible to fool the Wing by linking up a separate Bluetooth module so it’ll fire up Car Play ?

I wonder if a small speaker that can be stuffed into the pannier would to the trick?!

Something like this….

I believe you can get a work around by just putting the headset module in the pocket, then set the output to the speakers.

The bit on the outside of the helmet with the battery and switches.

Neotec 2 has battery, module and buttons all separate from each, other unlike the old units where it was a lump stuck/bolted to the outside of the lid….

Ok then. A more complete answer. something like an Interphone link ( in my mates case ). Stuff it all into the aperture where the usb connector is. Make sure it’s paired to the bike. Plug the phone in and make sure the speakers are switched on.

Yes but I don’t have one.
Both my Neotec 2 and J Cruise 2 have the Sena SRL integrated comms .

But does it have to be a comms unit ? Surely anything small with Bluetooth might suffice ?
