Goldwing has left the building…

Did u get what you wanted
Ha ha! Touché! Short answer, no, not really. “We buy any bike” (cnuts, should be called we steal any bike! 😀) offered me £13k for it. As I usually do, it had the accessory parts book thrown at it including a grands worth (including tax and shipping) of Two Brothers Exhaust. I could have taken it off and sold it separately but it is a real ball ache and tbh I couldn’t be bothered. Still, I got more than your mate sold his for and mine had more miles and was 2 years older. I put this down to putting up with the tyre kickers and not being desperate to sell so I could have some fun with the tyre kickers, I am not inferring your friend was desperate to sell, his bike was a better buy on paper, but autumn draws on.
It made me laugh but when I ended the eBay listing, all the watchers crawled out of the woodwork and said they were really serious and why didn’t I inform them it was being imminently sold?

That’s the problem. He doesn’t like dealing with people when selling bikes.

Can't say I blame him, it's always easier if you are offering it up as a p/x.

Saying that I was quite surprised that a supposed "premium" bike was so taxing to sell and the depreciation was worrying on the Goldwing.

I think that to a large degree , the more expensive the bike the bigger the problem selling it

Just having the Harley now Si ?

Yip - when I see a DCT Tour on ebay for £13.x grand ..... albeit with 50,000 miles , I know market has gone bad ... recently (and even now ) they are asking that and more for the older model 1800 .................. and they are very different animals ! Good time to be a buyer ... not so good for the sellers.

Yes mate, although if I had a windfall I could see a Challenger in my future as well( before I get too old). The buyer of my Goldwing yesterday asked me why I was selling that and not selling the the Harley. In a fit of honesty, all I could tell him was that I sold a Road King (standard) once and have regretted it ever since......my bad as they say.

May I ask what led you to decide to sell the Goldwing?
If you were asking me (?). There were a few things.
In my opinion, they are not as reliable as you would hope from a £25k + Honda. I had a lot of battery problems with mine ( 2 batteries in 3 years) and as a result always travelled with a Noco booster. Also, stupid little things like if you switched it off with the run/not run right hand 'bar switch, it didn't like that as opposed to stopping the engine via the ignition. I got stranded for a couple of hours once until it magically just decided to work again.
Whilst I used the on board sat nav a fair few times, it is not the best and certainly not very intuitive. We are now in an age of touch screen, as we already were when this generation of Goldwing came out, so why did Honda fit an analogue sat nav? The same goes for the apple carplay, it's very hit and miss or at least it was on mine.
I didn't like the fact that the 2nd hand value had taken a dive, so I thought I was better off getting rid now rather than a year or so down the line.
A lot of owners who bought 2018, 2019 bikes are starting to complain about finish and rust issues, especially on the exhausts, header pipes as well as the silencer covers. I was going to remove the TBR exhausts prior to sale of mine, took a look under the heat shields and decided to leave well enough alone and mine had lived in a dry warm garage all it's life.
They have a lot of things going for them, the comfort is legendary and for a big heavy bike the handling is amazingly good....the DCT transmission is incredible and works really well, but here's the thing...mostly I would switch it to manual and work it up and down the gearbox "by hand". I thought about this and decided that, although the Honda DCT is in some ways game changing, I prefer the manual input.
My main reason for selling? Soul....or rather lack of it.

Is the depreciation that bad?
I thought they would do ok as they’re quite niche?
EDIT-just read your answers above and I’ve never paid much attention to them previously
