I'm curious. What mileage is it showing now, compared to what it was showing when it went AWOL?

Personally, I wouldn't feel comfortable riding around on a stolen Special Edition 1150GS Adventure, because they do errr .... stand out a bit.

Mileage not noticeably different and still had 2/3 tank of petrol. I'm curious about where it's been but agree - it's so VERY noticeable and may be that's what saved me.

There are some great lock recommendations on this site and I'll certainly be investing in the biggest, strongest lock that'll fit through my new ground anchor.

just remember if you ever see someone stealing again phone the police and say there is someone outside your house armed with a gun the police arrive quicker and the theiving scum get a shock

Just a thought, have you checked the vin no's, wheels etc just in case somebody has used it as a swopper

Interesting thought Shep. Does that happen? Still had spokey wheels on and the insurance guy has given it the full once over. I rode it on Friday and she still felt OK. Bit of damage to the saddle (maybe that had been swapped?) but intercom still in-situ underneath. Right hand pannier missing. But apart from that - all hunkey dorey.

Must be the cynic in me

I once worked for a fork truck hire company, a truck had been out on hire for a few weeks, when we went to pick it up one of the workshop lads drove it back into the workshop and it clipped the door with the top of its mast. Turned out a cowboy mechanical handling firm had quoted to overhaul a truck and used our hire truck for parts, batteries, mast (3" taller than the one we gave them), electrical components etc, all the expensive stuff to recondition.

Police took over and in the end it turned out they had been doing the scam for a while, their contract was to recon 30 trucks and they were a third through them by the time they slipped up
