With correct spring rate (v important) & shimming, they are the best around
Must people buy 'off the shelf ' shocks without knowing how to have them set up properly & hence have problems
Was out Friday, & was not comfortable with how the bike was tracking. Knew I have some movement at the rear wheel, but it did not seem worse. Went about 50 miles to York & it was 30 degrees C. Anyway, on the way home, suddenly the bike was almost unrideable. Limped home around 50 mph. Rear shock had just gone, no damping. Yet had seemed a good 'un on the last ride. Showed a cbr600 the way home no problem.

I've had Wilburs front and rear on my lebbenfiddy GSA for the last few years.......ordered for me specifically, bearing in mind I'm 20 stone and Rosie is perfectly yet sturdily built........I added on fuill luggage in my weight estimates.
Can't fault it.......I have to whack it right down for me solo off-road, but it's coped with two of us off-road on longer trips with only a few bottomings out...and harder sprung and it would be unrideable even let off to the maximum.
Not extortionately priced but can't fault it in any way TBH........and I've ridden a good number of bikes with shyte suspension and overpriced but good suspension.
Fuck the looks.......only a wanker sees that as the most important thing IMO.......cost and function, work it out for yourself

FFS it was a joke
The 1150 GSA I rode over the Col du Galibier this morning was shod with Wilbers & it performed very well
However I do think the Ohlins performs slightly better IMHO

Who supplied and fitted your Wilburs ? Do you get a much better ride than the standard shocks ? No way am I paying 1500 dabs for ohlins !

They are good shocks but will set you back £1200
Spoke to abe at the weekend as the shocks on my 1100 need shot blasting, painting and refurb.
The guy on the phone said in his opinion the only way to get bwtter was ro fo thw ohlins route. Obviously they have a vested interest to get the work but it was an interesting pov.

What spring weight was the Wilbers running??
If it was too light for the load, terrain and extreme usage............ you can't blame the shock

It was an uprated spring, same as my Ohlins....hence the comparison
The pre load blew on it to start with, perhaps it had too much on, perhaps not

The conclusion: (which I too ignored and have perhaps been lucky)
For strength. Standard shock with Hyperpro spring to suit
For performance. Ohlins
For everything else. Wilbers. Fournales. Maxton. etc
