That about says it all really.

Oh, on a very, VERY tight budget.

ST1100 on the list so far, maybe a brick beemer, what else do you reckon?

Must be reliable, easy to maintain capable of lugging around a twenty stone fat geezer

:nenau

how about one of these for £669 ?

wouldn't be 20 stone for long !

I've got a Blackird for sale with all the luggage etc for £1800 or best offer.
I'm a 6 foot four 17 stone tosser :aidan

Have you ridden one Andy?

I've not even sat on one, but I guess if your legs fit on, mine will :D

I have and I am 6'5", for a cheap second hand bike they are a good buy, only down side is the chain, Pan would fit you, but they hold value well and they are not that quick.
If your not fussed about looks then have a look at Kawasaki GTR 1000, ugly as hell but a solid shaft drive long distance bike, and fairly cheap second hand.
I have done thousands of miles on a flying bricks both 750/1000 and 1100 and whilst they are solid they are not that comfy for those of the taller larger figure!! I always found them a little cramped.

I'm 5' 9" on a good day and found it okay for me 29" inside leg, to Greece and back, but I wouldn't like to be anymore cramped.

I really, REALLY do like Pans....I had one on loan for a month and didn't want to give it back.

They seem to go for anything from a grand (some lower on Ebay if you time it right) up to just under 5k.....I know about the common faults (or I know what I've read the common faults are anyway :blast) and the more I look, the more I fancy one :thumb2

I had a Kwak GTR1000R and it is a consumate mile-eater with a hyowj tank... but I got done for serious speeding...and just found it so ...large that I bought a R100GS

1996 ish GPZ 1100 , Superb bullet proof motors and roomy, get a good one for £1200

What sort of budget are you looking at exactly?

Bollox:blast..apologies if you've said that in the OP. Too quick with the Post Reply Button.

Agree with Mungrel re the Blackbird. I know quite a few tall fat bastids that fit a Bird like a glove . Engine is bullet proof and you can tour all day to your hearts content. They are also a lot of metal for the money (like the FJR).

That Bird of Mungrels looks a cracker at that price and with the luggage .

Good luck.

Hmm, mind you..have you ever thought of a BMW GS1150 ? ;)

Being 6'4" and having owned a FJ11 and owning a brickRT I would say either one would be fine (little bit less leg space on the rt) I have used both for a regular 180 mile round trip commute (still prefer the airhed when there is no frost :blast) PM me if you want to try the rt for size :thumb2

How about one of THESE Bill, I've had 2 (1st one was nicked and burnt out :-( )in the past and put 170,000 miles on them with very little problem. Easy to service (unlike a lot of inline 4s) shaft drive and cheap TYRES.

Did Rob Farmer sell his FJ1100?
That was well sorted and cheap. :thumb2

I ended up with a K100.
Take all the bodywork off and it's rather nimble :green gri
Lots of them about and cheap.
Really stable and comfy at speed - enough power and on our back roads i can often stick in one gear and just ride the torque in the twisties. :bounce1
i wasn't a fan at all ~ until i got a loan of the one i ended up buying (Thank you Electric Monk and DrFarkof for getting me there :bow )

We had pans at work and I drove one for about 5 or 6 years, they are a very good bike, I really liked them, only down sides are that the panniers a bit small for touring, and the clutch is worse than the BMW to change, we gave them very very hard use but we would often do the clutch in less than 10,000 miles, to be fair that is pool bike that are not yours and used constantly in traffic, with the occasional high speed run ;-) they were also quite hard on brake pads. other than that though a great bike to ride, the old ones knock spots off the new ones

Here you go Bill,

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-K75-R...Motorcycles&hash=item4d0369180f#ht_500wt_1287

No bids as yet but looks clean and honest. The owner hasn't helped the sale with the advert being thin on detail but it might stay well bellow a grand and if it does that would make it a bargain.

Cheap as chips to run, will sit all day at 90+ always return about 10 miles per litre and so simple to work on that even you could keep it on the road. :D

Thats a nice bike, I always felt the 750 was a better bike than the 1000/1100's there is not much difference between them in top speed, but always felt the 750 handled better, managed to set a speed camera off on one at 119mph on my bike course ;-)
