looking to trade in my 2016 (may) GSA TE 17k for a new GS exclusive and been offered £11500 including 3 aluminium boxes to be left on
Not keyless but quick shift pro fitted and usual TE standard.
Was looking for more (12-12500) but after looking what they sell for may not be a bad price.
Also will be paying my bike + cash but BMW offer £725 contribution if you take out finance , have read on here i think can I take out finance get contribution but pay the full amount off before payment due and if so what cost
will be added e.g early payment or arrangement fees .
Any help appreciated

Have you tried Crowd Funding? Seems to have worked for Wee Eck.

Crowd funding is the way forward :rob do it ... It makes sense and you will be laughing. All the way too the bank.

And you will have a shed load of cash in your bank account, to squander at your leisure :beerjug:

Try selling your bike privately - and you will see it is in a market where no-one has £11,500 to pay for a bike outright.............. but they have £250/month to put on a PCP of a bike at £17k.

PCPs have destroyed the second-hand market.

Try it on Ebay Classifieds at £20 total cost, but I think you might be in for a shock.

You do know a new model is out in October?? 2018 bikes are being discounted.... either wait or drive a better deal for the old model...

I had a similar spec 2014 gsa te (14,000 miles ) and this time last year got £10500 for it in part ex against a new GSA Basic and I kept the luggage and all the extras off the old bike .

Bear in mind that you are buying what is now potentially an end of line model and at the time of year that dealers are getting desperate for new bike sales , I would accept £11,500 but would be wanting to hang onto the luggage to put on a new bike or sell on

Not too bad a price. Why leave luggage on as adds very little to trade in value and you could sell on here for more. Take the finance and pay it off early. No penalty for doing that

I read it that - it was a condition of the trade-in

Is the new model in the showrooms in October????.......I thought it was Jan

When I bought a new TE last year I got a £500 contribution on condition I took out BMW finance. Paid one installment and settled the debt. If I remember correctly I 'lost' c£80 in interest charges but obviously gained £420.

I see you live in Blackpool so you are close to Bowker's at Preston, Williams in Manchester and Jefferies in both Shipley and Rotherham. If you have the time I'd go around them all (or at least give them a ring) to get the best deal.

As has already been mentioned selling a high priced motorcycle privately is becoming increasingly difficult.

Best of luck

Mike

Regards the finance, you can terminate the contract by paying off outright at any time, which will involve a small termination fee; or you can cancel the contract within 14 days, and simply pay the daily interest up to that point, which if done after a couple of days will be a couple of quid. Either way you keep the contribution. I've done this on both my bmw car and bike.

As has been said, you should be aiming to get a considerable discount now (or soon) as the clearance period approaches, ahead of the new engine. As example, I got 1.1K off list plus discounts on dealer fitted optional on a 15, 750 GS ahead of the availability pf the tft displays.

c2c now sell motorrad. The deals on the GS aren't especially attractive, but haven't looked into the GSA: https://www.coast2coastcars.co.uk/new-motorcycles/. As they simply line you up with a dealer you should be able to have a convo about part exchange.

That's a good offer, I just brought a 2016 GS 1200 TB TE from a BMW dealer for 1 k more than that but only 3k miles, so it allows them to make a little so its not a lowball, they will have to service it and pay for a new warranty as a BMW AUB for another two years which eats in to their profit. As for panniers, I traded in a 4 month old bike for the TB and they did not want the panniers but said leave them with them and they will try and do a private deal with the next buyer, which they did indeed do within a few days and I got my money back on them in cash.

For the new bike I had brought a few months earlier, they did advise me its cheaper to buy on finance as BMW will pay towards the deposit, then I would have to make a minimum of 6 payments then cancel and pay in full. Yes there would have been a bit of interest but still a saving of a few hundred £s. Unfortunately I did not get on with the bike and i never kept it that long:blast losing a fortune in depreciation when I gave it back.

If you cannot afford it what is wrong with your bike...........:blast
Thanks (i think) for the reply , I did not say i could not afford it but if i could save £725 i like most other people would i take it you would not :nenau:nenau

UK? If so then you were lied to. What they mean if that if you'd cancelled before 6 mths the dealer would have lost their commission. You can cancel after 1 day, and keep the contribution. It's a standard practice that I and many, many others have done. Car/Bike companies know they're on a sticky wicket if seen to be holding people to finance through a sweetener.

You should name and shame the dealer.
