They came to collect my fantastic 1200RTLC today due to the recall.
It'll soon be joining this sad little group.

So in a few days I'll be taking delivery of a new GSTE, and it looks like I'll be keeping it for a couple of months or so.
I did try and push my dealer to give me a GSA, but availability is very limited apparently.

So I'm gonna be joining the great unwashed here for a while.....

You cant get a GSA without parting with a large amount of wedge and an 8 week wait  :D

The ESA recall I assume, what exactly makes them un-rideable? I read about them leaking so I'm assuming it's tyre contamination :nenau

Yes, all of the new RTs with ESA have been taken off the road due possable rear shock failure.

RT back to my dealers now, so picked up the GSTE loaner yesterday. Just need to run her in now.

I've only done 90 miles on her, but she rides much better than the the last 2013 GSTE that i rode.

Gear box is jap slick....:thumby:
Clutch action is light and not at all grabby...:thumby:
Throttle response in all modes is also smooth...:thumby:

Engine sounds like a bag of spanners (much noisier than my RTLC) , although she IS new still, so should improve with the miles.
I dont like the Anakee 3's though, as they're too noisy.

So the RT and GS are using different suppliers for the ESA units?
Just wondering why it's only effecting the RT.

AFAIK, the shock on the new RT's are a different design spec to the GS's (or any other BMW bike), so the recall only affects the new RT.

The RT uses Marcozzi shocks, the GS uses Sachs.:thumb

In fairness, it is a rather well documented piece of information. Especially so if you read the motorcycling press and/or visit any BMW based internet forum :thumby:
