Goodbye

No need to leave, I don't have a GS either but I'm still here as are many others including Africa Twin owners.

Not had a GS or BMW for the last couple of years either, no reason to leave.

It’s like saying, that my best school friend had married now, so we are no longer friends :nenau

I’ve not had a BMW bike (let alone GS) for over six and a half years, I am still here though.

The reason to sell the GS was that I'm a rider, and more importantly a traveller, not a mechanic. I ended up spending too much time and money on fettling the bike, which is not what I'm interested in. My last big repair bill was £1600, which could have paid for 2 long trips in Southern Africa. Plus I'm supposed to be writing books for my professorship! Glad I sold it to someone from the forum who actually cares about the bike, so it will have a good life. Probably out last the Africa Twin, and me, by many years and miles.

Another reason was the dealer I liked to go to and trusted was forced out of business by BMW, which has now become a soul-less corporation. I used to go down to Dorset, have a small holiday, and have the bike serviced perfectly, all for a decent price (with a discount for airheads). Finding an alternative in a good location proved impossible.

Does anyone know how to actually unsubscribe from the forum?

If you are a traveller then it is worth staying on this forum.

i have done lots of countries on a bike but there are people on here that have stories to tell and information abound.
There is always something to learn

We like that on this forum.

You can share your trip report on these pages too. I love to read a great ride report. Why not stay and do exactly that. You do not have to participate in every section of the forum, nobody is holding you at gun point to post not to stay either come to think of it.

Why? Then again as above…

@SOAA @Paul G (BHT) are your points of contact if you really aren’t into this whole forum “social lifestyle” thing.
