Need some real technical advice! Am completely foxed by this :blast- started this morning. When log onto iGoogle can see the messages in my Gmail account but when I try to open up inbox of account page keeps refreshing until eventually get error message. Having gone through all the suggested options - deleting cookies/ ensuring google on trusted list/ turning off antivirus/ even doing system restore - nothing makes any difference. Until I logged on using Google Chrome instead of IE7 - then can see all my inbox but only as HTML version, and cannot make any changes - cannot delete messages or reply to them - when try to change to standard view get refresh problem again. Same result form trying to delete cookies. Antivirus (Kaspersky) is up to date and have run scan of whole computer with no problems shown. If anyone has any bright ideas much appreciated! :beerjug:

Two thoughts occur.......

Have you installed anything at all on your PC in the last few days?
Even just an update......firefox 2.xx to v3 or something?

Something might have been changed by the default settings of whatever you installed may be causing this :nenau
secondly, it may be something that's been sent to you in your account and for whatever reason, your browser and/or Gmail is having difficulties dealing with it.....

I'd try web2mail or some other web based client, as well as trying Outlook or outlook expresss....log onto your gmail account then see if there's anything causing its constipation.....anything you don't recognise, delete from their server then try again.

I've never used them but Gmail do have a tech support team you could try......or try HERE, their support forum which I believe has Google tech staff on it :)

EDIT...the Gmail help page (that you may not have been able to find as you can't log into gmail) is HERE

FWIW mine's working fine....although for some reason I did need to log into it today rather than it taking me straight in on saved settings :nenau

Thanks for your ideas - nothing added to computer recently; have deleted everything from my mailbox using web2mail (nothing odd!); have been through help but nothing answers specific problem - strangely when try to log on to google help forum get same issue happening which suggests is something more to do with google than anything else!

Odd :nenau

Try using Firefox.....for one thing it's better (IMO anyway) that IE7 or Chrome and it's well established (unlike Chrome) and works very well with Googlemail.

Download is HERE

See if there are any add-ins that have been disabled or installed recently. I think gmail uses Java - has that been updated recently?

get googlemail forwarded to a proper email client on your pc. it's under settings on the googlemail webpage.

i'd recommend Thunderbird as a client.

Downloaded Firefox and Googlemail runs perfectly inside that - still not working with IE7 at all , and only as HTML version with Chrome :nenau
Thanks Fanum - really appreciate the help! :thumb2

Google is becoming a major competitor to Microsoft......

Suddenly (and I bet you have automatic updates turned 'on' like most of us do) IE7 starts throwing up problems when used with a competitior's rival Email system.....

Go figure ;)

Stick with FF..and have a look into their skins and plugins....you can make Firefox dance if you want to, it's very tweakable :thumb

If you like Chrome but don't like the privacy issues then try Iron. It's fast, clean in apearence, free, the same as Chrome but without the Google tracking stuff.

I've been using it for a while and like it :)

my favourite of the moment is definitely Safari 4, but i've not used Chrome.
